Although this site has a good interest calculator on it, if anyone wants a copy of a spreadsheet i designed, automatically calculating interest and culumative charges total, just give me a buzz.

I posted a link to a spreadsheet that does this in a thread in the reclaim bank charges forum... works off the date on your computer and alters the interest.

Search for Interest Calculator in the threads and you should find it. I can't take credit for it, I didnt write it.... in fact, it could well be yours, Rob!

Just received a letter & cheque for the full amount of £450.33

There is a veiled threat at the end of the letter....

    "
As it is clear that you do not accept the terms and conditions for the operation of your account we will shortly be contacting you to discuss its future operation."

Has anyone defended the closure of their current account?
Filed a complaint with the financial ombudsman regarding unfair closure of their current account?
Its simply a case of A&L spitting their dummy out surely :D

I've already moved my DD's/standing orders over to another bank account ... imminent closure of A&L accounticon12.gif As far as I'm concerned, they can stuff their account .... want nothing more to do with them once they've paid out. I'm not saying any other bank is any better, but A&L really seem to take things to the limit ....
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

    Hi all

I managed to get all my charges, interest and costs back from A&L but had to go through mcol to get it. Followed MSE instructions to the letter, sent every letter, they kept saying no so I took them to the small claims court.

They acknowledged service, ticked the box on form to say they were going to defend. They had 28 days to respond to court, three days later a cheque for all of my claim and court costs appeared in the post. :j :j :j :j

Don't be scared to go for it, even it if gets as far as court there is loads of great information and advice on here.

Good luck to all you A&L customers!

Just read in the thread about the A & L veiled threat, I got the same. Have written to them and told them I agree with terms and conditions mostly but not the charges as they are too much. And quoted stuff off the BBC2 money programme about the true cost of account administration. Haven't had a reply yet but have opened a parachute account just in case....

I have done the same, even told my new bank why I am changing banks after 29 years. The advisor just commented that 'alot of people were doing the same'.I have changed to Halifax high interest,so am getting a better monthly return than A & L anyway, so don't care if they close my account, am just looking forward to my payout.

Right, I've now got as far as the Warrant being issued and according to the MCOL site, " Your warrant request has been accepted. The warrant has now been sent to the bailiff at the appropriate court for action."

What exactly does this mean? Do the bailiffs now physically go to A&L to get the money, or do they write to them at first, telling them they have to pay up?

Also, I got Wragg's defence letter today. Couldn't help but smirk that they seem to have left it too late!

I started up my claim with MCOL and today i received a letter from solicitors acting on behalf of alliance and leicester stating that A+L would be defending the claim. I also received a letter from A+L offering me the full amount of my claim (£3676) and that a cheque was enclosed for the full amount. I've looked at the cheque and the cheque is only for £1065 with no mention of interest or court fees which i told mcol that i wanted to claim. I am thinking about sending a letter to A+L telling them that i am willing to accept this amount as a part payment for my full claim amount but will they then say that they have paid me the full amount? Has anybody else had one of these letters? Any help will be appreciated as I'm unsure what to do. Thanks in advance.
