    Hi!

I sent a letter to A&L requesting list of charges as I had a loan with them. This loan was settled in 2004 but I know I definately missed quite a lot of payments on this loan as I got into a bit of a state.

However, I received this reply from them yesterday:

"I understand you were requesting details of any charges which were incurred on the above personal loan account which was completed in 2004.
I can confirm that no administration charges or fees were applied during the life of this account"

I presume they couldn't lie about this but don't understand how they haven't made any charges when I missed a lot of payments.

Has anyone else had a loan with them around 2004 and if so, did you get charged for missing payments etc?

Any advice on what to do next? Do I just take there word or ask for a full copy of statements? Don't want to pay a fee if they are correct though

    Hi!

Just wondered if anyone could help me with the above please? :o

    well.....

A&L's 28 days to respond to my claim were up last night. checked MCOL this morn and the 'acknowledged' status, had turned to 'defence'. !!!!!!.

    but.....

ive just got home at dinner and there is a chq for £1198 waiting for me from A&L. problem is, claim was for £1679. in the letter they write that the charges from 01/01/2001 amount to £794 + interest. is this just their way of trying to do me out of £500 (ish), or could i really have miscalculated my charges by that much?

so whats the next step now if i wanna hold out for £1679? can i bank this chq or do i have to return it and tell em to stick it where the sun dont shine? do i have to tell MCOL that i have recieved a partial settlement, or will that be sorted when i recieve my AQ.

    thanks for any advice....

btw, i have claimed for a 'monthly od charge' (£5) that kept appearing on my statement since my account changed to a 'premier direct' one. are these refundable does anyone know?

No they are not claimable as this is a service charge and the bank will have checked your charges list against what they have charged you.

Damn Damn Damn. Please could anyone tell me if I have a case.

On Sunday 31st I transferred money from my A&L PLUS SAVINGS ACCOUNT to my A&L CURRENT ACCOUNT. I have some direct debits coming out of the CURRENT ACCOUNT and the money transferred would cover the costs.

When the direct debits came out on the 2nd January the money I transferred in on the 31st Dec had no credited. Alliance and Leicester have stated that this is because I did not allow a full working day yet the transfer was done between TWO of my ALLIANCE AND LECEISTER accounts!! I am going to be charged for each direct debit taken out which could lead upto a hundred pounds. Surely they cannot do this??

Hope someone can give me some sound advice?
I had the exact same problem with a&L, internet banking used 2 tell me money had gone into the account before dd and so had been took out only to receive a letter a few days later saying that they had come out first sending me overdrawn, it is a cowboy company, i know many people who work for them and they say it is a horrible company to work for. I am currently starting action against them, any tips would be gratefully received

  • How long does it take for A&L to send statements generally? My SAR was posted 3rd Feb and they cashed my cheque 7th Feb approx but still not had anything!

My account was closed approx 3 years ago and I hadnt got an account number but I was able to provide other info.
  • I also had a loan out with them, and i missed an awful lot of repayments, they never charged me though, intill i starting dealing with Citizens Advice Bureau as i was in quite a bit of debt and only then did they add on £50.00 admin charges as did every other company that i owed money to.

I will post this in successes as well but for everyone after A&L this is for you. They opted to defend the claim on the 19th Feb so had 28 days which would be 19th March but today (1st of March) had a cheque for £5090 in the post. My total claim was in excess on £6k but I split it down to stay under the small claims limit. They have said in the standard letter that they will be contacting me about my account, if they close my account I will go for the other 1.5K
