I sent my SAR off 16th January with the 10 cheque. Admittedly it wasn't sent recorded, in fact in works mail so I didnt have to pay. They cashed the cheque on the 24th Jan and I still haven't had my statements yet. I'm annoyed, people seem to be receiving them very quickly whereas I aint.
Also, I go on the online banking constantly to make sure I've got the right amount of money in, and it showed I was fine for last month. I got my statements showing they've taken 75 pounds for a dd (of 5 pounds) going out when I had £2 left (I've been asking a&l to cancel this dd since last april), and 2 od charges (day 2 & day 5)
Least I'll get it back!0 -
I seen on another site that if you email the A&L you have better luck, well guess what, I tried that this afternoon and got a fob off email.Thank you for your email requesting a refund our your charges.
I assume your email is in response to our letter sent to you on the 30th January 2007, as this is in relation to Data Protection should you have any quiries regarding the letter, refer to the issuer of the letter at the address given on the letter.
I do hope you find the above information useful, however, if you have any further questions or need any moe help please visit our 'help' section online or contact us again.
I responded saying it was not in regards to that letter but the one dated the 15 February 2007. Lets see what response I get now.Alliance & Leicester.

The idea of going through small claims is you do it yourself. Have a read of this thread.

Hi there I was wondering if you can help me, i had an account with alliance & Leicester that was closed last year, thought i'd try to get my charges of them, but have no contact numbers, address for them, Has anyone got any contact details for them, would be great
Thanks x0 -
Hi Kazza,
A&L have different contact numbers for different types of accounts, so it would take all day to list them here. However, all of the contact numbers are available from their website https://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk in the Contact Us section.
Good luck,

I am helping a friend of mine claim back £2k from Alliance & Leicester. So far they have basically told her to get lost so we are at the stage of sending the "Threaten To Take To Court" letter.
2 things - you have to insert which court you are going to use into the letter at the bottom - how do we know which court is the right one or is it just the nearest to the claimants address?
Secondly, we're really stuck as to what to write on the claim form for the courts where you have to put "Particular's Of Claim"
Can any help?0 -

Hello
I was hoping for some advice as to how I can reclaim bank charges from the Alliance & Leicester. They owe me in the region of £2,600 in charges going back about 6 years.
I have gone through the process of requesting statements. I wrote a letter including a spreadsheet of charges and requested that they respond in 14 days. They responded to my letter by stating that they would not be refunding the monies owed as they charges that they had levied were fair and correct.
I responded to their letter by stating that I was not happy with their response and that I would be starting court proceedings within 7 days if they did not refund the monies due to me.
They wrote back to me after two days and basically sent me a copy of the original letter they sent plus a reference document reffering me to a Guide to Bank Charges. They are still refusing to refund my monies even though I have threathed court action.
Please can anyone advise what my next step would be and whether anyone has had any success in claiming charges back from the Alliance & Leicester.
I would be very grateful for any advice.
Thank you
Jay0
