hi
ive nothing good to say about A&L. when i switched accounts they lost some of my deirect debits took 3 attempts to move wages. but even worse is there online banking system. it seems to be designed to make you think you have more money than you do. card payments do not show for a variable number of days. online payments you make can take upto three days to work into your statement. any payments out are taken before payments in even if you see them there dont believe it because they shuffle the order latter meaning you can exceed your overdraft when you actually havnt.
will be shifting soon but who too theyre all bad and now they will get worse !!!
borgbaiterclaimed/settled - Natwest £2,535/£2,535, HSBC visa £80/£80, MBNA £1,258/£1,258, capital one £282/£282, tesco visa £515/£515, HSBC visa £140/£140. HSBC £1,450 MCOL Stayed for OFT case. Chelsea Mortgage charges & cashback £5000/£672. complaints with banks pending OFT Halifax £30, A&L £35. TOTALS £11,325/£54820 -
Indeed. I had noticed the problem with the late display of payments in and out. On Sunday I had 3 different figures for my balance, one from the ATM, two (!) different online. Have pointed this out and was told that what I was saying was 'false' (despite me having the receipts from the A&L atm). I am furious.
I forgot to mention that they even failed to keep the promise to match the overdraft I had. .....
Would not mind moving (again), though having not being impressed by RBS and A&L my feeling is that banks are all equally bad (very generic statement I know).
cheers,

A phone call won't help a lot. You need to get the ball rolling by writing the letter's Martin suggests in his article, then take to court if necessary.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -
would they even bother to reply? Wouldn't they claim that all is on hold due (OFT etc.) or is this 'only' their standard initial reaction?
thanks,
teo0 -
They might not reply, but that is not the point. If you want to get your claim into the system, especially if any of your charges are close to the 6 year mark, it is advisable to get the ball rolling now, including a court claim.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

I have spoken to A&L again today after Wragge & Co saying yesterday that I could no longer accept their offer only to be told that they are not interested in Wragge`s offer and the only offer they made was £88yet Wragge & Co sent offer of £343 saying they are acting for A&L very confusing anyone else heard of this???0

I started the court thing with alliance and Leicester on 10th may 2207, now have court date for August 17th, but going to court today to enter a judgement, because they haven't filed their papers within the 21 days require. So hopefully that means we win by default. A & L are pretty quick at doing paper work, up until now, compared to lloyds who are really slow......
If your unsure about the court route, go with financials ombudsman, it free, takes up to 6 months, but I believe most people are getting the difference of each charge being charged at £12......
Well I got Judgement even though it was after the Stay of the test case, called wraggle and Co this week and they said the money should be in the account in next c7 days.....I got the full amount £745.81, which included £617 in charges, interest and court fee......:money::beer::jReclaimed thanks to this site: £2596.71

Sorry if this has already been answered.....I finaly recieved an offer from a&l for the full amount after going through MCOL. I signed this paper and sent it back 2 weeks ago...then this week recieved a letter saying they wont pay it as its all being investigated about whether the charges are unfair? Has anyone else recieved this letter? made me so mad, thought i was finaly going to get some money! thanks0

hello everyone ,
i had a judgement by default against the a&l on the 24 july 2007.They promised to pay me within 5 days(sent by email and saved by myself as proof)...as you can imagine they are messing me about. So after reading peoples verdicts on this site and the CAG site i have been in touch with this company
http://www.elliottdavies.com/
They come highly recommended as they get the job done quickly and take no nonsense.0
