  • Hiya all

I have been down the same process with A&L. They offered me £44 agains £348 which I refused but have since had a letter saying that everything is on hold. I'm not sure what to do next. Do I start the court action or hang on. To add insult to injury they have now added another £55 in charges to the account in question. Any suggestions

My Dilemma Is This ,i Wrote To A&l Asking Them For Half Of The Original Amount And The £288 That They Have Charged Me For The Last 3 Months, They Have Said They Won't Pay That And That There Won't Be Any More Offers, Do I Wait It Out Or Accept The £900?????
I Don't Want To Leave It Too Long In Case I Get Nothing At All But I Don't Want To Seem To Eager To Accept Anything.

First of all, please switch the capital letters off. Second, read the Alliance& Leicester thread. All main bank threads are listed in a sticky at the top of the board.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH
  • I orginally declined an offer of £343 from Wragge & Co and now because of the test case rang them to say I will accept only to be told no way because I rejected once yet undated letter from A&L received Saturday says if an offer has been made we have two months to accept not so what they really mean is the very first offer A&L made before Wragge got involved £88
    any comments please!!!!!!

    Hi All

As posted on this thread I was made an offer the day before the announcement about bank charges was made. I am currently on a DMP so I contacted A&L to find out what happens as I was told by Wragge that the funds would be paid into my account, which is suspended due to my DMP.

I only have a £240 overdraft on this account and I will receive £993.50. My question is what will they do with the rest? When I spoke to them they confused me and said that my DMP company will be involved with the left over amount and the would email each other.

I just wondered if anyone had been in a similar situatuion with Alliance and Leicester and what you did.

    Any help gratefully received- Sweety

No bank is making any more offers. They don't need to - all claims are on hold.

Letting your blood boil isn't going to get you anywhere - try calming down and waiting for the issue to be resolved. It's only money.

    Hi all,

I wonder how I can take this further with Alliance and Leicester.
I have asked Alliance and Leicester to return the charges they put on my account (34 pounds each time) and was told ... quote: 'you !!!!!! up your account and the bank is not returning the money to you'. I hope they kept a record of the phone call.
The tone of the so-called customer advisor went on and he kept raising voice and using a tone that was somewhere between the insulting and the careless.
This after it took A&L 3 months to complete the switching from RBS during which they lose a number of d/ds, did not transfer the salary, failed to send me pins and customer IDs. It has been a mess and wasted plenty of my time. On top of all this, they charge me unlawful charges and what do I get: insults.
How can I take this further?
    cheers,

    matteo
