have today received my court hearing date, 23rd October 2007. I am now quite nervous as I didn't expect it to happen. Any ideas of the likely outcome?

Will A+L pay up before the court date?

Or will I have to go to court, if so any hints tips please!?

Presumably, if you've got your court date, you also have your "directions" from the judge? If so, and you haven't done so already, you need to post them to get advice as what you have to submit, as this has to be accurate.

A&L tend to take it to the limit and you have to prepared to go all the way if you want the full amount you're claiming for. They will most probably pay up if you're prepared to take a lower amount. How much are you claiming for? Have you sent any "nudge" letters to Wragge?

Loads of info. on this thread, but appreciate you'd need a few days spare to read it all!

See my post 1739 for further advice and good luckicon7.gif

    hi there
have been watching and using this site to claim my charges from alliance and leicester for the last few months template letters and all that have been very very useful and the step by step guide good

have now recieived my second letter from wragge & co ' copy of clients defence by way of service upon you ' now getting very scared  and not sure what to do now if anything have also had two letters from alliance and leiceter offering with out predujuce settlements £1000 then £1400 but i want my £4700 pound any help and support would be very appreciated

At this point onwards, you're going to need some very good advice and support. Have you joined up on the CAG site yet? I'd highly recommend it, as you'll have your own thread and get personal replies from a lot of experienced/knowledgeable people ... most of whom have been through exactly what you're going through.

This site is also a valuable source of info., but I found having a "personal" thread made so much difference.

    SUCCESS

After a lot of waiting, letter writing and patient negotiation I received a settlement from A&L today.

    Claiming: 2400 approx w/o interest
    Received: £1900

Some may think this was a bit low, but I had a court date for October which i couldn't be bothered to wait for.

Initial offer from Wragge was about £400.
I offered to settle for £2300.
    They offered £1100
    I said this wasn't enough
    They came back with £1623
I asked what the chap's top line was that he'd been given by A&L and he said about £1800 so I asked for £1900.
I said i wanted it ASAP and he said that he couldn't promise anything and would try for 3 working days, but may take 5.

It is two days after that conversation and the funds are in my account.

Being nice to the guys at Wragge helps, they are just regular people stuck in the middle.

Good luck to all and thanks to everyone who helped me.

Congrats eyeball001, i've got my court date for the end of July for my preliminary hearing. The court did not request a court bundle etc but i prepard one regardless and have sent them off today. I'm going to call Wragge and Co at the beginning of next wk to confirm that they have received and use this time to ask them if they wish to settle before court. I'll keep everyone updated and thanks for the support and comfort from this site.I can't wait to hear how Nappy gets on, hope it all goes well xx

I made a big mistake when I received my allocation form I saw that Wragg had asked for a one month postponement in order to negotiate a settlement so I agreed to it BIG MISTAKE Tired to contact Wragg But surprise surprise No reply. Just sent of my letter to the court to continue with the claim
