Hi eyeball ... nearly 2 weeks now since letter sent to the judge asking for judgement by default after Wragge didn't get any court papers in. I'll ring at the end of the week if still nothing.
How far have you got now?
Apparently there is a 'formal reply' to myoffer to settle on its way to me this week from Wragge... am hoping its a reasonable offer as opposed to anything else!A&L - 1st letter requesting money sent 22/03

Hi everyone
I am claiming my bank charges from A&L (just over £1000 with court fees and interest). I successfully claimed back just over £2000 from HSBC in May last year. I am finding this time round it is a lot more confusing and scary.
I have a court date on 25th July, the AQ was dispensed with and there was no other information given. The letter from the court was literally one line. I rang the court to ask if I needed to bring anything or do anything and I was told that this was just a directional hearing and I didn't need to do anything.
Has anyone experienced the same, do you think I should prepare my court bundle or contact Wragge and see if I can settle. I am not bothere about going to court as I believe in what I am claiming for. Howver, the whole process is confusing me and making me feel unsettled.
Any advice gratefully received!
Whatever you do DON'T start preparing any sort of court bundle yet! You don't know what you'll be asked for ... it could be anything from 2 pages to 300
I know a few people have had these hearings over on the CAG site. If I were you, I'd start a thread there (under A&L) and you'll get loads of advice and everyone's very friendly. Here is the link :-

Ive been charged for going over my overdraft few times, but i found that the A&L are very helpful, they have always given it me back!
Once i did call A&L and lady on the phone, who wasnt in a very happy mood, to say the least, wasnt having none of it, told me i have to pay and thats that! well i wasnt taking that! so i just kepted calling back till i found someone who would refund! after 2 calls i got all 4 charges of £25 each refunded.
The call center is the only place you can get chargers refunded, if you go into the branch they cant do this, you have to make that call. Tip dont shout and scream at them, this wont help, you have to do a little bit of sucking up!!! lol0 -
I'm exactly having the same experience. I had a premium current account with A& L and its not been used since I have opened it because it was not having enough overdraft limit. As I have not received any monthly statement for this account, down the 6-8 months line I can see that account has been debited with £85. So at the moment my bank balance is -85 and I'm afraid that if I deposit any money the system will take off £85 from the money deposited. I'm afraid ... bank won't let me close the account so easily and may take a legal action if I won't pay this penalty charges. I have used the telphone banking service requesting to revert it back and promised that it was a mistake and I'll pay monthly £500 into this account. But later on I have received a letter from customer services saying that I'll need to pay those charges as they are in line with their term and conditions etc. I went to local branch but they said premium current accounts are only dealt over the phone. so it was not of very help.
Is there any way I can get those charges back?
Any advice would be much appreciated.0 -

My letter from the court (date set for 27th August) says
Each party shall deliver to every other party and to the court office copies of all documents (including any experts' report) on which he intends to rely at the hearing no later than 14 days before the hearing.
by my calculation thats tomorrow for Sweety83! The bank won't be very helpful as they don't want you to have any of their £569,000,000 pre tax profit they made last year

Hi,
This is my first post so hope it's in the right place!
I have received all the statements through, sent the initial letter requesting a refund to which I received the standard reply.
I then sent them the second letter stating that I still wanted the charges refunded. I have just received through an offer from A&L of £66 "in full and final settlement" on a claim of around £650.
Is there a further letter I should send stating that their offer is unacceptable and that I still want the full amount?
I only have until 15th July to respond so any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks

In that case just a list of your charges and your letters is advisable
Like I say I have my final court date now and Wragge&Co have written and upped the original offer now from £176 to £442.04, apparently to "avoid the risk of litigation."
So I've written back saying that if they hadn't prevaricated and A+L hadn't procrastinated and given due consideration to my initial and subsequent 'Without Prejudice' offers there wouldn't be any litigationGot It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -
Last week I logged on to my internet banking to see that I had gone over my overdraft limit that day so I called A&L up immediately to extend my overdraft which they said on the phone would stop me being charged. I then logged onto my internet banking again and my overdraft limit was showing at my new, higher rate.
I then got a letter from A&L saying that they're charging me £25 for going over the limit - apparently overdraft limit increases don't go through until overnight (so why did it show up immediately on my account then!?).
I called and asked them to waive the £25 but I've now had the standard letter to say that they've reviewed my case and they won't refund
Do I now pick up the next phase of trying to reclaim as per Martin's article?
Also, I was charged a "paid item charge" as well of £25, presumably because they let the payment go through...... can I claim this back too?
thanks for your help! Sorry about the long rant above!0
