I've had a bit of luck, Got a call from the solicitor saying A+L are going to settle for more or less the full amount I claimed, its £100 shy and no court fees, He said they would pay it into my bank account, but that account is closed some 3 years ago, he then said they would send a cheque, A cheque isn't going to clear in time. He was very very persistant that I phone the court 1st thing and cancel the claim, I think he's trying to catch me out.. But I wont and i'm still going to go to court, Am I doing the right thing???0 -

I'd stick to your guns dj ... sounds a bit fishy to me. There are ways they can pay you before your court case; let's see how desperate they are to avoid court 'eh
Keep us informed.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
Have typed out the third letter (before action) and will drop into A&L branch tomorrow to put it in their head office bag (why should I pay for stamps? lol!)
Have decided to go down the settlement path. My claim is for £1250 and have advised them that without prejudice I will settle for £900. God knows I want and need the full amount but I don't fancy the whole court thing.
That said if they are reading this (we know you do ;>) then be sure that I will go the whole hog if the settlement offered is derisory.
I'll let you know what happens.0 -

I phoned A+L and they confirmed what the solicitor said, They also said they would send out a cheque and it will take 10 working days!!!!
Theres no way I can loss in court is there?? I mean the solicitor isn't going to turn up and if it goes in my favour i'll get an extra £3500 -
hi all,
Bet you all cant wait til your own case is over with and you can then enjoy spending your well earnt money.
well my court date is on the 18th jly at Hastings.
The judge has wriiten to say if the parties attend it will be for directions only. (What does this mean?)
I need to send any all docuents / experts reports etc to the judge and the defendant. (What do I include in this?)
I have so far: bank statement of whch the charges apply
Copies of the letters ive sent
Copies of which I've recieved
List of chages with interest
Do i need to include anything else? I keep hearing about A&L terms and condtions, do i need this?
what evidence have i got to prove that these charges shouldnt be that amount?

Hi does anyone have a telephone number for alliance and leicester other than the standard one for current accounts. I've had success with Halifax by dealing with them by telephone, thought I'd try Alliance and Leicester too, but the call centre guys are just not playing ball.
cheers0 -

I'd tell them you want the money in your account by Thursday latest, or you'll definitely be going to court (I presume you can cancel the day before). I'm sure you'll be OK if you do have to go to court, but it would be nice to get the money beforehand so you don't have to go!Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
Hi All,
Well i guess i was due some good luck. Mcol sent me a letter on the 12th June saying they had misplaced the defendant's defence! They had 12 days to re submit.... and they didn't! So i am now applying for judgement but i have a question if i may?.
Am i allowed to charge interest on the claimed amount? since the time i originally made the claim? If so what is the rate and how is it calculated?
Thanks!0 -
Money lodged into my account yesterday - Yippee.
This means that A&L DO pay out, they just wait till the very, very last minute :-)
Neways, I'll be keeping track of your claims to see how you all fair, but i think everyone will be quids in by the end of the summer!!
Good luck guys
Sarah0
