I have had one sucessful price update today with a restored back up file - I just hope it continues for a bit longer yet.Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0 -
LucianH,
have a look at the following link regarding live log in. I used to use passport, but microsoft advised stopping using that ages ago. Add http://
social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/money/thread/c2fe2b16-65cf-460a-9423-7e6464228730
UK users are reporting success with the hle-ofx-quotes app.
I have not tried it myself yet. Was about to do so today, but Money is updating again.
Anyone trying hle-ofx-quotes should ask for help on
microsoftmoneyoffline.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/java-app-to-update-quotes/
as these are the guys developing it - get it from the horses mouth.0 -
I'm also getting share price updates. FYI I'm using Money version 14. Have never used Microsoft Passport but do have a Windows Live ID which I very rarely use or log into on my new desktop.0

i'm on ms money 2004 and a few weeks ago it told me that it was stopping the price downloads and they did stop . i started looking for an alternative and am about to buy ACEMONEY which has a lot of price feeds which appear to work well. However today i went back into MS money and its downloading again , so have MS backed down and reopened the servers ?0

Woaaa. Just rum mine, MS Money 2002, and let it do internet updates and it strips out the agility to update prices online. Fortunately, kept a backup of the file, aand if I just .Update Prices Online, it continues to run. OK
So Freddie Recommends DO NOT UPDATE MS MONEY 2002 ONLINE0 -
Thanks, Freddie_Snowbits:beer:, your post gave me the breakthrough in relation to the issue I was having of my Money 2004.
Just to elaborate for those having similar problems - I had my Money setup (via Tools>Options>Online Services) to “Automatically update accounts when I start Money”
This meant that when I started Money at the beginning of Feb it was also “Getting the latest Money Updates”. It appears that it’s this update that Microsoft then uses to tell you that the services have changed and at the same time disables the “Download share prices, news and exchange rates”. (As I mentioned in my post of 18th Feb 10:40AM – it threw up a dialog box with the message “One of more Microsoft Money features have expired.”)
Once this had happened, I could find no way of re-establishing the option for share price update.
Now, I’m guessing that the “setting” for the enabling the downloads is part of the database, so like Freddie I restored from an old backup copy after having disabled the automatic update option. I’m now in the position of being able to manually kick off an update, untick the option for “Money updates” and it appears to go through a successful update of the share prices. Obviously, I’ll need to confirm this on Monday when new prices should come in.
So, hopefully this is my last post on this thread. We now have to see how long this “discontinued service” will continue. Should it come to the point when Microsoft do actually pull the plug :wall: then we’ll have to resort to the “manual download” of prices from FT.com and using hle-ofx-quotes tool as discuss elsewhere on this thread.
So, along with Freddie's recommendation, always untick the Money Update option when updating share prices and Good Luck to anybody else having the same issues.Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0 -
I've been using Money 99 and was totally unaware that MS were discontinuing share price feeds until the glitch a few days ago.
Although the share price feed has restarted and the day prices are correctly updating (at least for the time being!), I have found that all my historic share price data has been corrupted and much of it is now showing to be 100x the correct price. This has totally messed up my share price charts and gain figures.
I would strongly advise that anyone using Money 99 (and possibly other versions) does not try to do an online share price update without making a back up of first.
(I, unfortunately, did not realise what had happened and overwrote my last good back up when I closed the application!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem?0 -
I have Money V14 and it seems to 'call home' as soon as it starts to disable stock prices updating. I can pull the .mny file backup from 31-Jan and it'll update once but when I start the app it pops up a dialogue saying an 'upgrade' is needed. I'd love to know the URL it's talking to and maybe map that in HOSTS to 127.0.0.10
