ASDA does not add up!! Check your reciepts!!

Did my online grocery shop a little earlier and was checking what I'd bought and noticed it didn't seem to add up. I'd ordered a few things in bulk so thought I'd made a mistake somewhere and waited to get the confirmation email then got the calculater out.
I've been charged just under £10.00 more than I should have been.

I've checked at least 3 times and forwarded the email to my Mum who also has checked and confirmed the error. I have made sure to include delivery and taken the savings off (which was only a couple of pounds)

So pleased I don't throw away my reciepts as I have kept my delivery reciepts from my previous orders. Sat and worked out the last 3 of those out and there are errors of up to £30 on each of them!!! How could I have missed that??? Guess I must have just expected Asda to calculate my shopping correctly. Didn't know they gave estimates instead of actual price. :P

Will be phoning Asda tomorrow to get this resolved and I'm pretty sure Tesco will be getting my next order.

Please check all of your reciepts.

Blimey, this is a serious allegation if they are quoting you one price and taking another, or failing to do their sums correctly! I assume you've got your evidence, can you scan it and post it up here for people to see for themselves?
  • Yes, I have all the evidence right here. I'll be scanning Tomorrow from my Mum's house (Don't own a scanner myself) I'll forward all previous reciepts to Asda and ask them to add them up and see what they come up with.

Yes, It is a serious allegation, based on what I see in front of me and I shall be taking action and then posting the necessary proof on here, along with Asda's reply. I will also inform them of my post and my intentions.

If I believed I might be wrong (which I am not) I would not have posted anything on here, that's for sure. Again, This is why I forwarded my latest bill to someone else to see what they got and it was the same as I did and that was entirely wrong.

Wrong of Asda to do this. I have 4 reciepts that are wrong.

Funny thing is, I've not once been under-charged :p
  • I posted this some time back. Never ever got to the bottom of it. I asked the manager in store and even he couldn't give me an answer. Gave me a bottle of wine hoping I would go away.

Blimey, Paulo's thread really shows this is an old, systemic problem - this is a real Watchdog type winner, get in touch with their production office, they will love the story. They have known for over a year and still systematically overcharge people week in week out. Nice group action here for a lawyer too, possibly!
  • My concern is that a few notice the errors but how many don't. It's a nice little earner if it were deliberate - which I would never suggest was the case.

A credit card co in the USA had the law on them when they destroyed customer's cheques so that they could charge more interest and late fees! Companies can commit crimes!

I doubt it is deliberate, but it certainly doesn't seem to be isolated. Extrapolating to the number of home deliveries they do, there must be tens of thousands of pounds at stake, possibly hundreds. It is scary.
  • Oh, have been doing a little digging and this HAS been on Watchdog and they have asked anyone who has experienced this problem to contact them....Okay then. Clearly they have been aware of this problem and promised to fix the error, which has obviously not been done.

Oh I feel so bad for the people who haven't noticed. I hope I have perhaps alerted a few people to check their reciepts for errors and hopefully they will get their money back.

Could anyone reading this please ask anyone they know who does online shopping with Asda, to check their reciept thoroughly. Thanks.

It's staggering - ASDA know what you've ordered, they know what they charged you, they can compare the two and produce accurate refunds with around a mornings work for a database administrator including coffee and testing time.

I always check supermarket reciepts where ever I am before leaving the shop so I can go get my money back. Happened 2 out of 3 times i've been to Asda lately. They said at Customer service they have so many offers and reductions the computer can't keep up.
