Interesting thread. I used Asda online for the first time a few weeks back being a lifelong tesco shopper, and noticed I was overcharged the minute the driver handed me the receipt as there were a couple of items I had asked for no substitutes and they hadn't had the item I wanted.

I wrote a complaint to the store straight away as I always find people are more likely to respond to a written letter. Wish I'd known about this thread before I wrote though!
  • I'm in the process of putting together my letter and photocopies and sums of all the evidence of overcharging. I've done all the sums right there for them so they cannot ignore my letter. I'll send it recorded delivery too.

Still forwarding all my reciepts to Watchdog, just to show them the matter has not been resolved.

I work for Asda. I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is here. Our delivery notes are currently being redesigned to make them easier to read as they are a little confusing to follow, especially if you have had an item substituted for something else.

We posted a full explanation on the Your Asda site last November - after we'd been on Wathdog to explain the issue.

The easiest way to resolve any confusion you may have is to call the Asda home shopping team on 0800 952 6060. They will help you understand your delivery note and will ensure you have been charged the correct amount. In the meantime our new delivery notes are being introduced this month.

Can you tell me how, with all this technology, you can't do sums correctly? wow, you just lost a customer, never will I step foot in this dodgy store again

Don't worry, you're cancelled out by all the people who won't enter a Tesco again!
  • Its interesting that this has come up. My OH has a card provided though her employer - basically part of her salary goes on it at the beginning of the month and she gets a discount when she uses the card at various retailers.

Now, because some of the balance goes towards paying for household shopping and some is used towards her own personal spending we track everything on a spreadsheet. The problem is the balance on the card always gets out of sync with what the spreadsheet says it should be. I've checked the spreadsheet and it's definitely working properly but if there is something wrong with ASDA's bills that could explain the problem.

Unfortunately we don't have any of our old receipts but I'll defiantly be checking in future.
