Afternoon everyone- I did try to post at about 9.45 this morning, but lost my post (boo hiss). Hugs and thoughts to everyone who needs them.
I've had a busyish morning-- since about 7.20, I made DH's sandwiches, blitzed the cooker and worktops, topping up the rinse aid, fed the DW twice, updated iTunes, looked up recipes for peach and pineapple jams (separately), fended off a couple of dodgy door-to door double glazing types (who couldn't even be bothered to shut the gate), pulled out a chicken from FF for the weekend and made eight portions of chickenish quorn mince and vegetable pie as a means of using up all kinds of bits. They should be done fairly soon.
I also found a boxof 12 jam jars under a pile of cr+p - now all I need are some lids (!) - I need to drop some stuff off at the CS, have a mooch at the library, and take a load of stuff to the post office for the UKRAK group on Ravelry.
    Take care

my mum used to improvise with jam jar lids by using baking paper with an elastic band to keep it in place--it gave cover but you had to keep upright

    Good afternoon,

This morning I minded my friends little boy for a while, but he was full of cold and not really himself, so he went home early. The house elf was up at 3:45am. I keep telling myself that it won't be so bad once the clocks change. He is doing well at school, and they are aware of his dodgy sleeping habits, so know if he is a bit tired he hasn't been up until midnight watching x rated films.

I have had a lot of pain from arthritis this week (one of the main reasons that I'm trying to lose weight, the house elf is the other), but gave myself a strict talking to before, downed a painkiller and went and made choc chip cookies for the house elf and a slimming world type quiche for me. It has a potato base, and cottage cheese mixed with egg, onion, bacon and tomatoes as a topping.

I am knitting the house elf a scarf because he asked for one. He is amazed that I can make it myself instead of having to go and buy one. The slight drawback is that if the cat notices what I am doing, she wants to help me by biting the wool.

    Take care all of you.

Can i ask what a house elf is??? Am i really that think or is it code for somthing???

    Iv wonted to ask before,

  • Its her wee boy Halight, Cranky used to call him Grumpy the house elf, but she hasn't said the grumpy part for a while, so I'm guessing he's cheered up a bit :D

I am tickled pink at the thought that Halight thinks you are cooking and knitting for some imaginary friend, Cranky :rotfl:

    Hi all,hope all is well.
I have realised today why I don't know whether I'm coming or going- my calendar is missing February :D I went to check something and thought it seemed wrong, saw March, thought it had got turned over by accident and got back to January :rotfl:doesnt take much to confuse me at the best of times.

I've got a ham shank in the slow cooker,£1.80 off the market and it seems quite meaty,so will use that for soup and sandwiches. We're all having different for tea to use up some bits.

Hoovered all over the house this morning and tidied upstairs.Felt a bit :o yesterday as I met an old friend at the supermarket and she gave me a lift back. She only saw this house as we were at the building stage and hasnt been since.Of course the kitchen floor was covered in muddy pawprints and DS1 had made his dinner and not cleared away.Ah well ,never mind.

Going to do a bit on my family tree now.I've not done any for ages and had cancelled my Ancestry sub early last year, but decided to pay for a month and see how I get on,at least fill a few blanks in and then print it out.

    RR-hope dad is ok soon.
Mrs MH-hugs to you. That was a big step to take.I hope it helps you in getting sorted.
JO- enjoy you Granny time :)
Lowesy- nice to hear you are doing so well, but sorry you had a shock when you logged in.
