It sounds like you have managed to do a lot the home/garden jobs yourself though which will save a lot, my parents always did all their own improvements and it saves a packet.

My OH has just cleared our gutters for first time (nasty job) but saved £100

We have recently had a quote for our garden at £5000 but it is a massive job due to a steep incline.

Just being curious how did you manage to move without a chain? We are hoping to do just that (but will wait a few years as we're not sure where we want to be / scared of the hassle etc)

Yes I always try to do any jobs I can myself. I've decorated all the bedrooms, bathrooms, hall, lounge and playroom in just three/four month. I do the electrics myself also, the only thing I get help with is plumbing.

Gardne wise the FIL is very handy for jobs which are new to me.

Being chain free was just luck more than anything. My buyer was an ex-pat who worked in the oil industry so he bought with cash, and the house I was buying the old lady had already moved out into her new home. So we were very lucky. I would wait until you know exactly where you want to be. We had a set criteria which were were waiting for, all of which had to be found in one village.

if its meant to be it will happen I guess.

  • Bit of an expensive weekend for me in the end.

    - £150 for turf and top soil
    - £100 from B&Q for some garden feed, compost, hose pipe
    - Also sent of the cheque for the £450 will fee....

Don't think I will be making anymore OP's this month :(

    Morning Froggy.

Think just about all the cd's and dvds have gone (still waiting for several cheques from Music Magpie though).

Books now that we do have, although those are on the list of things to sort and sell this coming week. Dragged the OH into getting her ebay going again.

Mate, I was so happy when we scored our penalty. But 12 minutes added on...... thats Fergie time and some!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Glad to hear about your DD. We don't really know what to do when mortgage free, holidays, moving etc - everything seems so extravagant, and a bit our of our comfort zone!
