MSE News: Wheel clamping ban moves closer

ignorant beggars who are intent on parking on someone else's land didn't do it, the need for the clampers wouldn't exist
With the greatest of respect, anyone who parks their car anywhere apart from their own driveway is parking on "someone else's land".
The reason I have zero time for PPC's, clampers, and even "legal" traffic wardens etc, is the simple fact that YOU HAVE TO PARK SOMEWHERE. You can't disappear your car into your pocket and take it with you unfortunately.
The simple fact of the matter is that we have a situation in many parts of this country where there is just far too much volume of traffic on the roads, not enough decent, cheap and suitable parking for it, and not enough adequate public transport alternatives.
Therefore, imo, anyone who owns lands has to accept that either you take measures to gate off the property (if parking is that much of an issue for you) and only allow access to those you wish, or just stop moaning about it. This is quite clearly the simplest, best and fairest solution for everyone.
I also think that, if people were honest, it is not really a huge problem to have cars parking on your land in many cases. Especially where it's commercial premises. It's just a nuiscance, and the 'principle' of having someone who hasn't asked permission needing to leave their car there for a short time that gets you uppity. Get over it or put a gate up basically.0 -

Hmmm....okay to give others advice, but you don't take it yourself. How about you, "get the train to work. One less car on the road for the rest of us?"The simple fact of the matter is that we have a situation in many parts of this country where there is just far too much volume of traffic on the roads, not enough decent, cheap and suitable parking for it, and not enough adequate public transport alternatives.
Not mine or anybody else's problem. If you want to drive and park, buy your own space. Don't expect others to pay for your parking problems. Therefore, imo, anyone who owns lands has to accept that either you take measures to gate off the property (if parking is that much of an issue for you) and only allow access to those you wish, or just stop moaning about it. Great, I'll park on your driveway then? How about I get the van drivers to leave the vans on your lawn. See, I'll bet you don't find that very equitable; not exactly simple, best and fair, is it. If you can't erect fences and gates, how do you suggest the problems are solved then?I also think that, if people were honest, it is not really a huge problem to have cars parking on your land in many cases. You don't run a commercial premises do you? If it wasn't such a problem, why do you think landowners have had to employ the clampers in the first place. And no, it isn't to boost profits.
I really fail to see why the people on here find it acceptable to park on someone else's private property and get away with it. I am heartened to find out that at least we will now be able to enforce parking charges on these morons. I have not had time to read all of the draft, but it appears I will be able move the vehicles on to the road. I will have to find some double yellow lines to leave them on.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

And your continued bleating on here are not our problem, if you want to stop people parking on the land protect it instead of crying on here about the end of the criminal activities of clampers!Great, I'll park on your driveway then?
Just shows that you got the PPC patter down a treat, did you go to night school to learn the speak of scam?I really fail to see why the people on here find it acceptable to park on someone else's private property and get away with it.
Could you point me to someone who endorses parking on people's land and not paying for the use of if there is a charge?I am heartened to find out that at least we will now be able to enforce parking charges on these morons.
Nope you won't unless you take them to court, and prove a loss , and prove that the terms of parking were fair, the new proposed changes only makes it even more difficult for you the landowner, at least 750k tickets a year are completely ignored, won't it be fun if the PPCs bring all those to the small claimsExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Hmm this is also in the draft Schedule 4
"(3)
A notice to the driver must be given before the vehicle is removed from the
land in question (and while it is stationary) by affixing it to the vehicle or by
handing it to a person appearing to be in charge of the vehicle."
So bye bye ANPR and an invoice by post ?
Also this could make a PPC employee's job very dangerous ..see them writing a ticket run to your car and drive off..it's obvious what will happen ..poor squashed PPC man.. but once the vehicle is moving he can't ticket so why did he stand in front of me ????0 -

Also, what happens if I am handed a charge and choose to drop it on the floor as if I never received it?0 -

Hmm........Yep bye bye parking eye.

Why take it all ...if someone tries to hand you something without disclosing what it is then don't take it.
No doubt the slapping of tickets will be done at an exit barrier if there is one because you will be stationary and not yet left the land ...hmm thats a lot of money needing to be spent in all those car parks that have no such barriers ..
Still this is all just an amusing aside to the fact that the PPC 's don't know the meaning of a fair and proper contract and they still can't impose penalties.
I note schedule 4 refers to enforcing parking charges " however described" ..so in it's current form that will allow them to use the term penalty charge ????
GREAT ..go ahead PPC describe it on your signs as a "Penalty Charge" -as many of you do now against BPA codes of practice ( I speak fonm experience and have the photos to prove it ).
NOW PPC lawyer explain to the court why your charge described by yourself as a "Penalty Charge " is not a Penalty ..which you are not allowed to enforce in contract law ...0 -
Flyboy,
Nobody on here endorses parking on private land and not paying for it, if there is a pay and display machine there people should pay imo, if its a free car park, then its normally a retail park or similar, I always pay my way, and so does every regular on here, what I don't do is pay the scammers a penny, their rules and terms are meaningless, what damn right do they have to restrict me or anyone else to a stay of 2 hours in retail park with 30 shops? I could be spending hundreds or thousands in each shop, but according to them I am abusing the car park. They are truly worthy scorn!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

But I am not talking about car parks in retail parks. I am talking about parking on land that they have no authority to do so. My premises is on a business park, close to the centre of town. I get people dumping their cars in spaces that I lease, along with the units I do business from. What right do these people have restricting me from carrying out my business on my land? My business, where I employ several people, is far more important, than the three pounds, or five minutes, they save from not parking in the multi-storey car park across the road. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
