MSE News: Wheel clamping ban moves closer

Oh dear, yet again, the MSE parking m4fia are attacking yet another dissenter. Someone who doesn't agree with their point of view and they all shoot him down, instead of engaging in proper adult debate.
Actually I cannot see anyone attacking the poster above, and actually a few points of debate has been risen, also in regards to attacking people, you are the one who has done this abundance on this thread repeatedly, or do I have quote all the times you have done this ?Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I find this quite amusing, and a case study in 'being careful of what you wish for, because you may get it'.
So clamping will be banned, but 'private parking fines' become legal and enforceable against the keeper unless they name the driver, when it enforceable against the driver.
It is going to be a nice moneyspinner for anyone operating a car park. Railway station car par parks will no longer have to threaten Railway Bylaws. Supermarkets with Blue Badge, parent and child spaces (where you need to have an authority badge), drop-off spaces. Any car parks with a time limit. There is going to be a vast increase in the number of 'private parking fines' issued, and it will all be guaranteed income.
And the icing on the cake is that a car causing an obstruction on private land can still be towed away, but in future by the police. Will the police subcontract this out like they do for cars with no insurance and those recovered after being stolen? And how much do the police charge for towing and storage in these circumstances?0 -

I can't see that part getting through Parliament, Bills change a lot along the way! :T
And I think the person who was driving my car the day it was issued with a PPC piece of bogroll sadly died...or maybe moved to Australia...one or the other...anyway good luck with that Euro Car Parks!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Only if inconsiderate motorists choose to park in a place which they shouldn't.
Stick to "pay and display" car parks, places with meters, places where free short term parking is allowed etc. (or even use public transport if it's available) then the car park operators won't be making much at all.
I will be the first to admit that I occasionally do things that I shouldn't, but if I was to get caught I wouldn't start bleating about how unfair it is. If I make a decision to do something, I will also accept the consequences that may come with that decision.0 -
It's not going to happen in such a manner, it's a proposal at the moment that is all, but any terms on a contract must be fair regardless if this comes in, there is a lot more in this than making RK responsible for something they haven't done, we will learn more as time goes on!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. You are surely not telling me that if you overstayed in a Sainsburys car park when shopping there, that you would actually pay up £50 or more if Euro Car Parks decided to slap one of their fake invoices on your windscreen? Surely not, a regular MSEer paying a generic scam?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Why not?
All it would take is a slight amendment to the Road Traffic act which already requires the registered keeper of a vehicle to identify the driver of a car which was caught speeding.
I know that the keeper can sometimes avoid this by being able to prove that they had no idea who was driving, but a simple CCTV setup in a car park would make this very hard to use as an excuse.0 -

No I wouldn't pay, because as you yourself stated, it is a fake invoice. (which may well be illegal anyway)
"I will also accept the consequences". and the concequences would be me receiving a bit of worthless paper through the post.
If however I was parked on yellow lines and got ticketed, or was caught speeding, then I would pay as this would be a legitimate fine/invoice, and the concequences of not paying may be a criminal record.0 -

Nope this will not be possible, there is a whole raft of data protection laws in place for such data not to be used, this is a civil case not criminal, also apnr cameras will be allowed to be used if this goes through unchanged.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. Oh really?Spartacus_Mills wrote: »Oh dear. You would not do very well in your school debating society.
I do not recall calling anyone on here ignorant or the like. However, behaviour like that is all too common when a poster appears and disagrees with the so-called crusaders of motorists, the ones who condone trespass parking and cocking a snoot at the private landowner. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
