RBS internal credit scores

Hi there
I've been turned down for a current account with RBS (I have a Key account) because of an unpaid item charge. This was in error by British Gas who have acknowledged the error and paid the fee for me.
This has damaged my internal credit score with the bank although not reported to Experian - would any of you wise ones out there know if the fact it was not my fault (and that I can prove it) makes a difference?
Or should I wait and if so how long
thanks

Banks hate that kind of thing, makes them think you can't run your account properly.
I would try and talk to them about it."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
appeal and send a copy of BG letter0

Agree with PNPSUKNET's comments.
Get British Gas to send you a letter confirming their mistake, and their remedial actions taken to rectify the matter for you. Then keep the original and send a photocopy to RBS asking they correct their own records accordingly, asking for confirmation that your internal credit score has been returned to what it was before BG's error and ask RBS to reconsider your application for the current account.
If they fail to deal with this relatively straightforward request in a timely manner (usually 10-14 working days) I would recommend you submit a formal complaint.
The fact you can prove its a mistake, and not one of your own making, means RBS are required to put you back into the position you would have been had this never occured in the first instance.0 -
One bounced DD would not really make any differnce to an internal credit score in all fairness.
However I would recommend you ask BG to confirm that they made an error regarding your DD.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

I've done this and they wrote me a letter that I took to the bank. Guess I just need to wait and see...

The bank can't and won't change anything internally. The fact it bounced will not be only reason the full account declined.0
