When I had a load of appliances delivered I had the devils own job to get rid of the packaging. The tip only allow cars to go in but when you have 5 lots of polystyrene from washing m/c, oven, hob, fridge etc that's a lot of trips!
Also to put that in the bin means tearing the cardboard into cornflake size packet pieces - truely there are not enough hours in the day.
Ok so maybe your new neighbours aren't hygiene friendly and maybe they won't want to talk to you after a full day at work, but the weekend is a great time to be in the garden and say Hi to them.
If they run indoors then clearly they don't want to talk, but if they say hi back get chatting to them, steer the conversion to the weather and the current wind and see if you can get them to talk about the garden and any plans they have for it.0 -

I think there are some unfair responses to Dan.
Sure the best way is to go see them but the trouble is,he is presumably an owner occupier and the renters may vary from highly decent types who are rented between house purchases right down to low life drug dealers who might grab him and kick his head in for having the temerity to complain.
For instance i am aware of an owner occupier who went next door to complain of noise from the female renters hi fi boom boom,shake da room n all that.(single parent baby breeder)
Later that evening,Mr Rottweiller,her occasional lover came round dragged him out and kicked f$$k out of him.
Also,dan might be in the position of having to register a neighbour dispute if he sells should this situation deteriorate.
Dan could find out the owner by visiting the landreg website where the proprietors details may be listed (pay small fee).
He could engage the neighbour on a side issue such as the state of the fence etc..and let the conversation develop.
People these days dont accpet being told what is right or wrong or what they ought to do.
They are likely to give you a spank or make your life very miserable and no one will help you.
There is always a certain amount of anxiety when new neighbours arrive as we in the UK live in the smallest crummiest most expensive shoe boxes in Europe and so our neighbours are inevitably often too close.
I'd tend to let the dust settle for at least a few weeks and things could get better.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Thank you, this is my thoughts exactly.
However I do like the idea of just chatting about the fence as a first step.
I did also have a look on the land reg but the owners have put down the actual property as their address, so unfortunately that didnt help.
My original post should also have said that the letting agents did say they wouldnt not inform the landlord of the state of the garden. So the landlord would be unaware of any problems anyway.
But thank you for this response, precisely what I was thinking when I first posted looking for helpful advice.0 -

although I think I get your point, quite frankly if a neighbour TOLD me what I OUGHT to do I'd ensure I never did.

Noise control at my local authority in London specifically request you don't confront the offender when this happens, rather you contact them and they send round the heavies (literally, I had to call a few months ago).
Although I have a feeling your little story here didn't actually happen.0 -
