Problems on Orange - I want out.

No it's not, its given to you as an inducement to take the contract, but it's yours from the moment the airtime contract comes into force
However they could say keep the handset and you have to pay an early termination fee to leave.
Send the handset in and move on, or keep it and pay the fee, your choice.
Yes that is spot on. But they don't seem to know who to send the handset back too. If I don't give it to orange they won't give me the pac code. If i don't give it to buymobilephones.net I get charged for the handset. Really starting to annoy me now.0 -
I am also in this same boat. Cut a long story short I cannot ever get a signal on my iPhone, had numerous diff handsets and sims still same problem. They said last week that if I give them the handset back they will cancel the contract, was adamant that they weren't getting it cos I've paid a contract for nearly a year for no service, stupid I know but I just want rid of this company, worst mistake I ever made going with them.
I got my phone from phones4u so technically orange don't own the handset then do they?
This is really starting to do my head right in, sick to death phoning them and not one person is interested and you have to go over your story about a million times.
What to do???0 -

Orange don't own the phone, and they only want it to offset their loss of income, thats exactly what they did to me. I eventually argued that I would send it back to the place i got it.
They then held my phone number to ransom and refused to give me a pac code until they had the phone back.
A quick call to OFCOM this afternoon and what do you know, aparrently its illegal to withhold a pac code unless you die or else the numbers not yours.
OFCOM sent and email to orange and what do you know I was sent the pac code within 30 mins.
Finally rid of this rubbish company truly awful.
I did end up sending my handset back, I am sure i could have argued that I didn't have to, but it was complicated enough without digging my heels in.0 -

You need to be clearer, when you say your phone broke 2 months in what do you mean. Did it just stop working, or is the screen broken or something physical
if its not physically damaged, then your phone (assuming you got it new with the contract) is under warranty and they should replace it, or repair it.
Yes you can buy yourself out of the contract, you will pay the remaining line rental for the rest of the contract length so thats 36 x 15 = £5400 -
Well I called Orange today to tell them that I want to cancel my contract and that I will return the phone to them. Was told that the guy who authorised my cancellation will call me. Needless to say I'm still waiting!
I cannot stand Orange, their CS absolutely stinks. Like every other company, once you've signed on the dotted line they are not interested.
Will give it till noon tomorrow and a phone call to seek advice will be made from me I think.0 -

You'll get nowhere with customer services. send an email to executive.office@orange.co.uk and tell them to cancel it.0 -

Can you tell me what happened once you emailed them? Did they just cut your phone off or wait till they got phone back?0 -

Of course not, you should know now, nothing is simple and straight forward with orange.
I emailed them, and i got a call 2 days later from a woman in that department, who agreed to my request to cancel my contract as soon as they got the handset back. She outright refused to give me a PAC code until the handset was back.
The handset did not belong to orange, and she finally admitted that they wanted to the handset to offset the loss of the line rental.
I sent my handset back to the retailer I purchased it off because they have a separate terms and conditions and it says im' liable for the cost of the handset if i wriggle out of the contract early.
I refused to give them the handset and I ended up ringing OFCOM who called the executive office on my behalf to remind them that it was illegal to withhold a PAC code from a customer. 30 mins later I was emailed the PAC code and have ported out to O2.
the whole ordeal took a week.0 -

Oh why does something like a mobile contract get so flaming complicated?
I should really be sending my phone back to Phones 4U then if that's the case. My head is bursting with the whole thing
There's a guy in level3 iPhone support calling me tomorrow, he's been really helpful in the whole thing but he doesn't have authority to cancel it for me. I'll wait till he calls and take it from there.
I just want out of this contract and move on.0
