Store them and use them as you need them. Crikey - do you really need to be told this?

Tried that, stored them in the dark and cool as instructed, they were still turning rotten a week later :(
  • I've just had to use a bulk buy lot that we weren't getting through and used this site to find ideas http://www.lovepotatoes.co.uk/recipes and have frozen a lot of them as mash.

Slice, brown and seal in olive oil in a pan, make a indian style curry base, good pinch of cinnamon on spinach in white vinegar sprinkle on top and casserole and roast for two hours on gas mark 3.
It will melt in your mouth and the slightest taste of sweet cinnamon and tang of the spinach creeps in as the potatoes melt.
    Be happy...;)

I manage to store mine til Easter.

    Every year.

Farm shops manage to store them in paper sacks and sell them all winter.

I think you must be storing them incorrectly; are they in plastic and unable to breathe?

Thanks for that I'll have a good look later, there's some really tiny potatoes in there, like the size of peas!

I'm not sure what they're going to be used for!

In the cool and dark in a cupboard and no, they're not wrapped in plastic

Boiled to use in salads? I think you can freeze those too once cooked.
  • they should be stored outside, in a shed or garage.

we used to get the big sacks of potatoes from out local green grocer when i was little and stored them in the brick shed, they lasted a good few weeks - back in the good ole days when you had potatoes every night at dinner/tea.

Oh I know what you mean OP. my friend gave me two bags full and I was looking at them for ages, well a couple of days anyhow!

So I decided to do something easy with them before the rot set in.

I chose the biggest and nuked and baked em. Into the freezer after cooling. Did up two for lunch on Sunday, just threw em in the oven frozen, still in their foil covering, and they came out really good.

Then I steamed some and made a shed load of mash. Into the freezer.

And THEN, I steamed a few more halfway cooked. Dosed them in hot oil in the oven for ten minutes, into the freezer!

I have enough now to do me for months.
