Not a clue what the variety is. It doesn't seem to be marked on the packaging. They really are very dry. I can do roasties, wedges etc, but not everyday.

wedges can be done v. quickly/easily....leave peel on, slice into wedges straight in to roasting tin/oven dish, drizzle oil over and toss in hands throw in the oven to cook while you get on with other dinner prep. Really, it only takes 5 mins, mush simpler than roast potato. I also add lots of paprika to them when I make them here. I think its one of the simplest options.

Anything with potato and onions will taste oniony...but may be try adding cream and cheese instead of stock?

slice raw and layer with onions in an oven proof dish, cover with veg or chicken stock - whatever is your preference, and bake until cooked.

I layer bacon in mine and add abit of corn flour.

Oh! We've just had a bag from the veg supplier and they are so floury, they're really terrible. I think they're even too dry for chips :undecided

The only way we've enjoyed them is mashed up with cheese and spring onions.

We are fed up with boiled and mashed and jacket potatoes and love roasties, but try not to do them too often. I am making a lovely quiche tonight with salmon, cheese and broccoli and have a big bag of potatoes but have run out of ideas!

The oven will be on anyway for the quiche, so can anybody help me get out of this potato rut!

Wedges, cut scrubbed potato into 8 segments, put them in a plastic bag with a shake of oil, seasoning of your choice ( lemon pepper, paprika etc.) then on a baking sheet turn a couple of times during cooking for 30 -40 mins.

    Hi jap,

Boulangere potatoes would be good with quiche. This thread is full of inspiration that may help:

How many things can you do with potatoes.

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the ideas together.

    Gosh - fantastic ideas already!

The boulangere potatoes look lovely and less fattening than the gratin dauphinoise (or however it's spelt) that has cream and cheese in it. I've got all the ingredients to hand too, so I'm off to run out into the garden to pick some rosemary and get on with it! mmmm.

do you actually need to have potato so often? If you want something carby then wedges or mashed squash, grins like bulgar, quinoa or rice. But to be honest,I'd just serve veg or salad with a quiche, wich of course already has a carb element in the pastry.

I normally use the little boiling potatoes, boil them on the hob for 10/15 minutes, then put them on a baking tray in the middle of a pre heated oven, cover with olive oil and some different spices, I use paprika but I guess it was up to you, leave them maybe 20 minutes, they're yummy.

    Ditto!
I was going to suggest the same, I make these instead of chips, but I lay them on the baking tray then spray them with spray oil then add seasoning. I use anything on top, depending on what they are being served with: curry powder, cajun or just plain and simple salt and pepper.
