  • Hiya

I posted a few weeks ago in a blind panic after i had a difficult time just after finding out i was pregnant, Sorry I dissapeared but it was a tough time, and just wanted to come on and say thank you for the support when i was panicking and no-one else would listen.

Ive been so fortunate and am 13 weeks, and had my scan yesterday to see a little disco dancing dude or dudette. So I plan to join the 12 week up thread, but wanted to say thanks for the support when i needed it

Best wishes and massively good thoughts to all

    xx

Rups, the vitamin D is a new thing. It's quite important to make sure you get some sunshine (not too much, it's something like 15 mins a day on arms/face) to get enough vitamin D. If you are dark skinned you may need more time in the sun or to supplement. I'm just going with getting a little sun when I can, thankfully the weather recently has co-operated! Apparently very little vitamin D is expressed in breast milk so I will also be giving baby a few minutes every day in the sun (when possible) - with our due dates in winter it might be difficult though!

There was a horrible case a while back where a little baby died due to rickets (lack of vitamin D), but his parents were accused of abuse by mistake. He was a darker skinned baby but I couldn't find more information about why he was so deficient that he died, I presume he couldn't metabolise it well in addition to simply not getting much from diet/sun. And of course that's only one case out of the 000's of babies out there who are perfectly fine so no point getting too worried about it!

Congrats ML. I think my due date is the same as yours. I wasn't really paying attention when I was told my due date and exactly how far along the scan put me, as I was just relieved everything looked OK, but I think it was 10th December. Hopefully we have a happy, healthy 6 months to come.

    Hi CL!

It's definitely still sinking in for me. I'm sure the remainder of our six months will be brilliant!

    Yay ML! That's great.

I am a bit worried as my symptomss have gone over the last two days. I've not been sick the last two mornings and my boobs are getting less and less sore :( Trying not to read too much into it, but after 4 miscarriages it is so hard not to.

    :)

I've had similar worries. Hubby called NHS Direct (without me knowing) and they said that as the body gets used to the situation, the symptoms wear off slightly.

This hasn't stopped the odd toilet-hugging session for me though.

At my first MW appointment, she advised me to take extra folic acid as I'm overweight by a bit. For me, the usual dose in the multivitamins wasn't sufficient. She check some sort of spinny chart thing.

I am considerably overweight and last time (wasn't as overweight) they increased my folic acid dose because there were twins, this time they have been happy for me to have the standard dose even though I am heavier.
