We told the parentals at 8 weeks, mostly cos it was convienent that they were all in the same place at one time so we didn't have the niggly "they knew before I did" whinge.

I've told a couple of friends mainly because I'm crap at telling fibs and/or they'd guessed anyway.

The funniest one was my sister (at 6 weeks) - I had sent a photo to DH phone of the CB digital pregnancy test that said the "Pregnant 1-2 weeks". He was showing her photos of our new kitchen on the phone and suddenly there was a "Eeeekkkkk" from her and an "Ummmm" from him and I asked what was going on. My sister sat there saying "I didn't see anything, honest".

So we told her, she then ran around the room shouting "I'm going to be an aunty" and waving her arms :D she was pleased.

Ha ha ha oops!!! I think we will tell them this weekend then, though the other half wants us to do one set of parents at a time cos he doesnt like a whole room full of fuss. I am bursting to tell my friend at work and the rest of my family :( I think Sa-ra-ra-ra is right, if something does go wrong the family knowing wont make a difference to me.

I keep meaning to ask, have any of you told anyone yet? We were thinking about telling our parents this weekend

I told my best friend the day after and another friend "got it out of me" (She asked I couldn't stop smiley while trying to deny it! ;)). Two more of our friends know as I was upset when DH was supposed to be going out with them. I've told the girl I sit next to at work (She's 7 months gone with her first so been nice to chat to someone). Also my DH's boss knows.

We told our parents after we had the scan and saw the heartbeat partly because the midwife said 85% then go on to be successful and partly because we seemed to have told quite a few people by that stage! :rotfl:

We haven't told any of our siblings as we thought it was too soon since BIL and wife lost their baby (they had to have a late termination at five months due to a condition that meant baby wouldn't survive) so we are leaving it until the 12 week scan to tell them to give them a bit more time. It does mean I will have to stay away from my one sister as she will know and I am a terrible liar and I have never been able to lie to her! :p

With people knowing if things go wrong - I personally found it helpful when it happened to us. We hadn't told them before but told them once it happened. It stopped the "when you going to have a baby" questions and their support was invaluable. Although some people perfer to not tell anyone and deal with it as a couple. It's donw to the individuals.

Sorry that was a long answer to a short question! :rotfl:

How much was the private early scan and at how many weeks can you have one? I would be tempted :o We got our bounty pack yesterday and started reading through it. My OH has already started talking to my tummy bless him :)

The one for the one we lost was £100 at 9 weeks

The early scan with DD2 was £70 at about 6 - 7 weeks

There are not many scan places here local to me so most early scan are at about 8 weeks.
If you can think it........it will happen

Talking of "Don't they know pregnant women have to ..." why does Sanatogen make the Mother To Be vitamins the size they are?

I gagged on one this morning and nearly heaved ... and it's not the first time  They're big enough to take down a horse!!!:mad::mad:

I think they are all like that! I have the Tesco ones and they are huge too! I find taking them with something fizzy like soda water really helps them go down easier. Also I take mine with my evening meal when my gag reflex seems to be less sensitive. Of course then you might not get as much benefit from the B6 in them for the morning nausea.

I must admit i am going to stop taking my pre natal vitamins soon, simply because, DD1 was the only 1 that i took the sanatogen ones with, and she is the only one that has Asthma. I recently saw there were links between taking folic acid after the 12 weeks and asthma in children :/
I`ve heard some right horror stories about my maternity unit the last week or so! Even just simple things like having to tak in your own sheets and blankets for babe as they will not give them to u! Oh and the milk in glass bottle u have to purchase to take in with you too!! This was all supplied at my last births :( i`m gonna look like i`m going on a fortnights hols when i go into labour! haha! xxx
