Had my scan today, and been dated as 13+5 so I guess I'm off to the other board now too! Due 3rd Feb - 2 days too early from me to qualify for SMP :(

I couldn't believe quite how long the scan took. They had 3 attempts because the baby was being really awkward and not stretching out properly for measuring, I was there for nearly 3 hours (2 of them trying to get the scan done) and getting really desperate to pee by the end! Then I had to go and see the midwife after the scan, and they wanted a urine sample... which no-one had mentioned before I dashed out of the scan room to the loos. Still, I had a long enough wait for the midwife that I was able to get a sample in the end!

Re. booking scans, when the hospital rang on Monday, they booked me in within 2 days. However they'd not received my referral letter or my booking notes initially, so definitely worth chasing them if you haven't heard anything, as when I called they'd never heard of me, and I had to get the doctors to re-refer!

Bluebell. Top tip... rule of thumb is, whether they tell you in advance or not, you need to provide a wee sample EVERY time you see the midwife, whether it is at hospital or locally at your health centre/GP. Next time you are at either, ask for a supply of sample pots, its a lot nicer doing your sample at home before you go, than trying to pee in a pot in a cramped hospital loo!

My midwife gave me one sample pot which they said I had to wash and reuse. Yuck. Still, I've scrounged another one from the hospital now so that makes two...

The person doing the scan said I was seeing the midwife for a blood test, so I never thought there'd be any extras... will know for another time!

That sounds like a long scan! I'm surprised they didn't offer you an internal scan. They tried for 5 minutes at mine and couldn't see anything, then offered me the internal scan. I had to empty my bladder first which was wonderful! I suppose all hospitals are different though. At least you've had it and everything is ok with baby.
