That's what i thought! That I was having twins, as i'm a twin. But no, i've just got a huge belly!
I've read that gentle stomach crunches are ok in the first trimester. In the second, i'll get a ball and start using that.
What i'm not sure about (possibility of sounding stupid here!) is how to practice kegels. Is anyone doing this?:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

Ro, sorry if im interfering unwantedly, if you are suffering from the common pregnancy ailment of constipation, i'm surprised at the bananas, as they are usually known and recommended for the opposite problem! I've been lucky to avoid the "C", but instead had the "D", and was advised by the doc to eat bananas until things, ahem, got more normal. Of course, your body may well react differently to them, but would hate you to be munching something you dont like, and actually making it worse! The best things i have been told for being stuffed up in pregnancy, are dried apricots or dried prunes, and dried apricots are great as they give you extra iron too. If you can stomach prune juice that will do the trick, but much harder to get down if you have a delicate palate at the mo.

I don't want to worry you but I always read that you can continue these type of exercises if it's what you're used to,but you should never take them up in preg if not(same as horse riding, running etc)
Thanks Lucy - do you mean just the crunches? The exercise dvd i've got is specifically for pregnancy. Even though I still can't keep up with that lol
Am going to get the birthing ball and start exercises with that.
And practicing kegels if I can figure out how exactly hahaDFD February 2012

Lucy- as some others have said, dont feel left out about the food things. At my very worst M/S there were maybe 4/5 things i could face eating, and that was that (jacket potatoes, cheese, toast, breaded cod and mango), and most of the time it was a struggle to want any of those, and what i had dodnt stay long. I couldnt face any chocloate, sweets, cakes, biscuits (most unlike me!), and all i could drink was water or ginger beer. Then i went off both of those! Now i'm on diluted fruit juice, and caffeine free diet coke.
I'm 16 weeks now, and marginally better with the m/s, but its hit and miss what i can manage eating. Somedays nothing appeals, other days, i only fancy one or two things, but they tend to vary greatly, which makes shopping interesting. What i buy on one day, i cant face the next, or i go shopping and just get loads of individual random things, that you cant put together to make a meal! Poor DH despairs! its only the last 2 weeks i could face even walking down the meat aisle let alone picking any of it up! I am finding at the moment that i cant get enough fruit, especially melon, and salty crisps are really doing it for me. Hence my amazing healthy dinner (not!) last night, of a large bag of salted kettle crisps, followed by a punnet of mixed fruit salad.
One of those days!

Mozzy, for pelvic floor/kegel, the best way to start is next time you go for a wee wee, try and stop during the flow, by tightening your muscles down there. Do it a few times to get the feel for what it feels like to use them. Then (after finishing your wee!
)you can practice tighening those muscles, and then holding, and releasing. They reckon you should slowly over time work your way up to a 10 second hold, doing 20 repetitions at a time. Great thing is you can do it any where, in the car, at work, watching TV, in the shop queue etc. I'm making and effort to do mine around the place, and am squeezing away now!
You need to focus on just those muscles that would stop you going to the loo (both types), and if you find your buttocks clenching, or stomach muscles moving, then you arent using the right muscles.
Sorry if there were bits of TMI in there.
Right enough postings from me for a bit!
