oh pigpen thats rubbish! I really feel for you, mine hasn't kicked in yet but when it does I feel like I actually want to scratch my nose off, so much so I have a scar line across my nose from pushing it up scratching so much!!! Did your OH manage to get you any hayfever tablets? You can get them on free prescription now cant you? It is a really horrid thing to have. Bless ya x0

Prescriptions might be free but it would be june before I got a doctors appt. I've got beconase but it appears to have just made it worse and I am trying not to take the clarityn.. though I may have to give in to that if it doesn't improve. How is it possible to be so stuffed up yet my nose is running like a tap.. it is horrible! I may resort to tampons up the nose..I already have lip balm on my poor sore noseLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

He lied..
Beconase is fine.. treats topically so is not ingested in large enough quantities to be an issue
eye drops.. octi-something or other.. are fine .. they work directly on the eyes to alleviate itching etc. I have red vampire eyes but they are bearable and I loathe eye drops!
Topical steroid spays are fine too
The newer medications.. benadryl, clarityn etc you aren't supposed to take.

Waiting....that is a fantastic picture! Congrats again.
Oh allergies are the worst. I usually only get a tickle in the spring, but in the Autumn, I used to be a mess. Can you check with chemist to see what could help. I take nettle extract for allergies, which is listed as safe in pregnancy (it's even good for your iron levels), but I'd definitely check with an expert to be sure. Works fine on my seasonal stuff, but for cats I need antihistamines. There's also this stuff I've seen called Pollenex or something like that, that is a balm you put under your nostrils to help block the actual pollen particles. It looks completely bogus to me, but I know one lady who swears by it. I think I've seen it in Boots even.
Welcome WonderWomble! My other half and I only really started believing I think for sure, when we saw a scan a couple of days ago. I did all the usual precautions of course, but I was about half convinced that we'd go to the scan and there wouldn't be a baby in there. Now, I'm still hesitant (and not telling anyone yet), but starting to think about future things like what kind of birth I want, how my maternity pay will work, where the baby will sleep, what we're going to do at Christmas....etc.
I went to the doc pretty early, as it's my first pregnancy and I wanted to make sure that's what was happening and that I wasn't suddenly menopausal or had a tumor or some random thing that would give me a false positive (even though I knew this wasn't the case)
On food, here's the NHS' page for pg mums: http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/917.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=130. Looking out for unpasteurized things was the only one that I didn't think of right away. I absolutely adore the raw apple juice (aka "apple cider" to North Americans) that one of our local orchards makes. Raw milk/yogurt products have become pretty popular with some around these parts too.
As mentioned, you only have to stop wearing underwire bras when they get too uncomfortable. I have one now that I've been wearing often because it's really supportive (and soft cotton), but I'm already peeking out of it!
Was on FB earlier today and oohing and aahing over cute baby pictures. One of my friends has I swear, the most adorable daughter ever.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -
!!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!! am not looking forward to summer! i take it the beconase isnt doing much then?0

Beconase is on my list of "use with caution medicines" (both in the NHS book and in a guide I was just reading in a magazine). This is US based, but what they have to say is:The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category C is given to medicines that have not been studied in pregnant humans but that do appear to cause harm to the fetus in animal studies. Also, medicines that have not been studied in any pregnant women or animals are automatically given a pregnancy Category C rating.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0
