I'm with Snozberry on that one also!;)

Are you guys teacher's too? Secondary by any chance? Been thinking of getting into teaching, hence working in learning support for experience. Any regrets?

As for maternity clothes, my favourite jeans last time were from New Look. I have a few tops from M&P.

I had a little nose at black trousers today in M&P and they look a little scruffy. Last time I worked in a very casually dressed company and could wear jeans and t-shirts the whole time which was great. Now I'm going to have to kit out a smarter wardrobe, I was going to look on ebay though.

    Hi ktb,

Poor you being back at work. Are you not drinking any tea at all? I've been reading the caffeine guidelines and struggling to decide what to do

    X

I love my cups of tea but went totally off it for the first 14 weeks, then slowly started to drink a couple of cups of decaf a day. Now I'm back on the normal stuff and I have around 3 cups a day.

Went into town today to try and buy some maternity bras. I don't know if I'm just emotional or what but the shopping trip was an absolute failure. Went into mothercare but couldn't find any staff for a fitting. So went to debenhams but there wasn't anyone free there. Then M&S but their choice was rubbish and no one to do fitting either. Eventually back to mothercare, just bought some without trying and they don't fit now I've got home :( How frustrating!!!

Dont despair Mothercare bras are appalling, I bought one bra from there, never again! I just ended up buying some plain underwired ones from M&S, I know the guidance says to wear no underwired but as long as the bras fit properly you can still wear underwired.

I also second gizmodo with the bra extenders, especially useful in the last trimester of pregnancy when your fundus is quite high and make bras feel tight.

Many!:D:D But there are also many good points too!:):)
  • Hi everyone
Well I feel rough! Absolutely knackered and I'm back to work tomorrow. Thankfully I'm only being sick a couple of times a day so far but feeling sick all the time. I'm really hoping this isn't the same as when I was pregnant with DD, I was hospitalised with hyperemesis at 10 weeks when I couldn't keep down water :(
We've just come through a redundancy process at work and I was one of the lucky ones to keep my job so God knows how it's going to go down when I tell them I'm pregnant - I can still hardly believe it myself - I'm too bloody old for this!
I'm not sure how far on I am - I know the last time we had sex was 1st Dec! As I was on the pill right up to when I did a PG test, my LMP is hazy - definitely had a 4 day bleed 27Oct-1Nov, but also had a couple of days spotting mid Nov so I am either 8/9 weeks or 6/7 weeks
Hope evryone is keeping well. x

My suggestions are to buy online (bras4mums - free returns!) and if poss buy nursing bras - then you get longer use out of them. There is the chance that when your milk comes in you'll be even bigger but mine still fit. Also if you start buying maternity tops some doouble as feeding tops which helps.

    Morning! How's everyone feeling today?

I'm 7+6 and feeling better. I'm wondering if it's helped just getting off my backside and trying to keep myself busier so less time to feel miserable about being nauseous :)

Had my booking in appointment. All good, she talked quite a bit about my PPH and retained products I had last time. She thinks it's highly unlikely it'll happen a second time. But got to see a consultant for a routine discussion about it. Bit annoying as the less time off work the better. I booked my next appointment to co-incide with my lunch break so I don't miss so much. I just feel so guilty!!

Just seen how seemingly few appointments you get when it's not your first baby. 8 week, 12 week scan, 16 week, 20 week scan, then it's 28 weeks!

Who's having/had the flu jab? I had it last time.

  • DS has caught chicken pox :(

He must have picked it up at nursery. My mum is 95% sure that I had it as a child, but the GP who saw DS this morning wants me to go and have a blood test to check I have the antibodies as CP can be quite serious in pregnancy.

So I am going to have to pay the bloods dept a visit tomorrow morning after my scan. It's probably too late by now anyway, if I hadn't had it then I have been exposed for the last week or so..sigh..another thing to worry about.

Oh no :( This is my biggest worry having a child already and also working in a school. So is it OK if you've had Chicken Pox before then? Or just better?

  • I think if you have had it before, the chances of getting it again are minimal. My mum is a bit old and forgetful, but thinks we all had it as children. I'm pretty sure I must have, my sister certainly did as she has a couple of scars on her face from it.

Not much I can do really.
