Fly Dragon, what a lovely thought of your DH's friend! Without wanting to be negative, I have heard that you shouldn't use second hand car seats - I know one of the reasons is that it could have been in a car crash (which you would know about if it was a friend) but I think there was something about not using them when they are more than a few years old but not sure about that last bit - does anyone else know anything about this?

I have heard this as well, but i full intend to use the same maxi cosi car seat that i used with DD and i as still using with DS, for this baby, you will know if its been in a crash from the previous owners, all you must check is the strenght of the straps, make sure they are sturdy with no fraying and you will be fine :) (in my opinion)

How very lovely of them fly dradon fly, i have used the same pram with DD and DS but wont be able to use it this time round as i will need a double. Im sure it will be in really good condtion as most people i know only use there big pram for the 1st 6 months to use the carry cot part and then move to a pushchair as its quicker to get in and out of the car, and usually ,much smaller.

am scared and excited at same time - i have had so much stress lately and im worried how this has affected my little bean, having previously m/c twice i find myself panicing all the time. like i only feel sick every now and again not all the time like my other pregnancies - i havent been able to eat much but im pretty much forcing myself to.

does anyone know if they will try and listen for heartbeat at 10 weeks? x

No honey, it's too early for it to be found reliably and if the midwife can't find the heartbeat it will just freak you out. If they listen it will be at the 16 week appointment (mine didn't listen then either, in fact no midwife has done anything at all to my bump/baby and I'm 21 weeks, only want blood and urine from me!). Only the two scans to confirm anything's there!

on graduating to the Big Thread, but it would be lovely to see you pop back on here

My weekend has just started :D and I am off to the horses with the parentals. Will get the mucking out done, then we can sit and have a cuppa with 30yo pony, who always likes to be in on the action! I am also pleased to report that I feel far less icky today. Huzzah!! I actually managed to sit through a meeting this morning, without that horrid "going to puke" fear

Hugs to anyone in need xx
  • hey everyone,

thankyou for your kind replies :)

midwife went ok, she did try to listen but said she wouldnt be able to find it until about 14 wks but she has already sent off the paperwork to arrange my 12 wk scan and told me that i should hear by the end of next week.

on a plus note, my due date is 14.02.2013 :) i was thinking about texting the ex to let him know but im just going to wait till the scan. im pretty sure his gf (he left me for his ex!) has made him change his phone number anyway - i havent tried to get hold of him but i know other people have as he has done a runner from his business he shares with 2 other people :S
