Hi Candlewax,
I didn't have to do this but I did have to take a sample, although I dont know what they used it for? Was it your first appointment with the midwife? I know what you mean, I know it sounds silly but this is my first baby and I was a bit nurvious when I went for mine, I thought would have been explained abit more to me about things or my mind would have been laid to rest a bit more but I supose as you say, they do it day in day out so it is just a job.
Sorry about the spelling bye the way im dislexic0 -
Candle wax you have to take a urine sample every time you see your midwife. The dip stick tests for protein, ketones, infection etc.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I will see my MW in 2 weeks, i already know her cos she was my MW with my DD, 5 years ago. Really everything is fine, nothing is a big deal, just get worried for nothing, as they say.
My boobs hurt but i can not see them growing at all... oh well, they did not grow much during puberty why would the grow suddenly now ? Even with DD they grew just a little bit when the milk came in, and still !! it was like the size did not change, it was only a weird shape trying to hold an amazing amount of milk. Ofcourse my back or the fat in my back did grow... :SMejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
MrsGeee, it was my first appointment. It is our first child too. I was nervous when meeting the midwife and I think I just built it up in my head when in fact I felt like she focused on the negative. She classed it as a high risk pregnancy because of my mc and ectopic previously and the last thing she said to me was, if it all goes wrong it just wasn't meant to be. As far as I am aware everything with this pregnancy is going ok so I thought that was very negative of her. Not exactly the nurturing, caring person I had expected.0

Hi people.
Sorry I've been a bit quiet for a few days, we've been away caravanning. Have to say nausea in a skanky campsite look block is not an experience I'd wish to repeat!
I've definitely got bigger round my waist and hips. My size 10 jeans don't fint any more - sob. My boobs have gone huge! I used to be about 15 stone and they are as big as they were then. I'm rapidly running out of bras!
I'm 8 weeks now which I'm quite pleased with! I have my booking in appointment this Friday which I'm looking forwards to as hopefully I'll get a scan date. I've had 3 or 4 phone calls from the receptionist at the doctors hassling me to choose which hospital to give birth in. Despite telling them a number of times that it's my first, I have literally no idea until I have seen the mw and know more about it they keep on ringing.0 -
Candlewax,
Wow, thats horrible.. I think thats a very unsensitive attitude to be honest. Maybe you could see bout changing midwifes if she upsets you again. I think I was just nurvious because I dont have a lot of family and so dont have a lot of people to ask, it was alot more business like then I thought it would be in my head. On a plus note Im sure for the majority of the ladies on here everything will be fine... doesnt stop you worrying tho if your anything like me or you have history like yourself.. Im counting down the days till my scan.
Zcrat - They asked me that at my booking app (I have a choice of two), or if I wanted to give birth at home :O I thought it was a bit early but defo going to hospital where I can have lots of drugs haha.0 -
So, at the booking in app they will ask what hospital I want to go to? hmmmmm......better talk to the hubby0

Hi
I am saying a very tentative hello. I used to be on the TTC thread, then the TTC 12 months plus and FINALLY after three years of trying this morning I got three big old positives!!!
We had just been told that we really needed IVF to conceive and were awaiting the outcome of some further tests. So I'm shocked would be one way to put it.
I'm bang on 4 weeks and suffering with sore boobs and the odd cramp
