Share Registrars, Employee Benefits, Investment Services
On their website
http://www.equiniti.com/Pages/Default.aspx
Which company are you looking at,at any point in time.

Oh course it's Shareview ..
http://www.shareview.co.uk/Pages/default.aspx

But that's got
Employee Schemes and ISA's.........

You tell me which service is not protected.

A recorded message basically says the same as the letter. I am highly suspicious - being asked to provide personal information and an original Grant of Representation (I am executor for a late relative's Estate) without being told what it relates to seems very dodgy, frankly.

One poster says he/she received £13k - what about others? I find it all highly unprofessional, at best; highly suspicious at worst.....

Anyone able to absolutely reassure me?

Thanks

Greg
• Same letter, same concerns so I rang them on a number I found on thier web site www . equiniti . com / pages / contactus.aspx (the site won't let me post the link as I'm a new user) - 01293 560 999, the guy that answerwed gave me thier head office number in Worthing - 0845 6076838 (Google says this number belongs to Llyods TSB Registrars), which took me to an automated attendant, I selected option 7 and spoke to a guy who checked out my details on thier system and after some searching confirmed the letter is genuine.

But if you are sceptical like myself I suggest you call them.

No - I would query in writing their reason for writing to you
Worthing - 0845 6076838 (Google says this number belongs to Llyods TSB Registrars
Barclays Registrars also share the same building as Equiniti
• I have just recieved a letter from Equiniti today and it basically says

Dear Sir/Madam
Company:
Holder: (surname)
UMI Ref: (long number)
Your Ref:

Unfortunatley, we have been unable to accuratley locate a shareholding in the above name. We need to identify the holding exactly as it is registered. Please resubmit your request with the following information:

- The full name(s) of all holder
- Any previous addresses
- Aholding designation (if present)

then a load of other stuff. I havent got a clue what there on about. I havent requested anything from them but I do know the big national company I work for uses them for the share service but I have my own log in details to see all my sharesave policies and I can also use the same log in details to buy and sell shares aswell so I dont understand why I have been sent this letter.

... I dont understand why I have been sent this letter.

I also used to work for a large company that used Equiniti for its various employee share schemes. At some point, due to an error by the Halifax, I ended up with 2 Equiniti/Shareview accounts. The only difference between them was the omission of my middle name from one account. Equiniti sorted it for me.

I would have no hesitation in contacting them at their published address, either by letter or by phone.

Hi, I used to work for Equiniti a number of years ago so I can confirm that it is legit. The company used to be called Lloyds Registrars before it was sold off by Lloyds and became Equiniti. They have taken on a number of other registrar holdings including Halifax and Barclays though I believe all the correspondence for the old Barclays registrar still says its from Barclays (one of the conditions for taking it on).

As mentioned earlier if you give them a call and fight your way past the automated answer machines to an actual person they should be able to sort it all out for you. :)

No argument about Lloyds/Equiniti but my recall is that Barclays Registrars business was 'transferred' via IRG to what is now Capita Registrars at the same address that Barclays used in Beckenham.

I sent an email to concerns@equiniti.com (quoting my reference number) simply asking if the letter i'd received was from them - i explained i didn't want to know any details of my 'entitlement' and that i simply wanted a yes/no answer.
Needless to say i didn't get my yes/no answer - just a reply stating "if you are replying to an EFSL mailing blah blah blah", the email reads almost word for word exactly the same as the original letter.

I do wish all you suspicious folk who are getting these letters would overcome your fears and do what the letters suggest. As far as I know, all they are asking you to do is confirm your address. They are not asking for a fee, they are not asking you to sell your granny or your children.

When you've taken that first step, come back to this thread and report what happens next. I would expect to see reports of people being re-united with forgotten shareholdings.

It would be good to see reports on here of how much people have gained by responding. I wish I'd been sent one of these letters.

It's like those solicitor's letters inviting you to the reading of a will where you "may hear something to your advantage"
