Equiniti - is this a legitimate letter?

The company I work for (FTSE 100 company) uses Equiniti for their sharesave scheme so they are genuine in that if the real company have written to you, they do exist.0
-
They exist alright...Eqiniti is registrar for them all and no problems.
On behalf of an elderly relative, I have been in dispute with them for a little over one year regarding alleged lost certificates.
Apparently the Financial Ombusdman has determined Equiniti is not a financial institition so we now have to declare (alleged) fraudulent activity and call in the local police.
More on this soon.0 -

Blimey, really? Please do let us know how you get on. I'm rather shocked to hear this I must say.0 -
Equiniti Financial Services Limited is authorised by the FSA (see here), and is a member of the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Equiniti Limited is only registered with the FSA (not authorised; it's registration is for anti-money laundering purposes only). Equiniti Limited is not a member of FOS, and so FOS cannot consider complaints about Equiniti Limited.
Generally, Equiniti Limited deals with all the registrar stuff, and Equiniti Financial Services Limited deals with all the sharedealing stuff.0 -
This now has it's own thread:
