Hello everyone, just come back from my 16 week appt. Just as you said it was very quick. Just a bp check, go over my blood results, next appt date and that was it. She didn't listen to the baby's heartbeat, something about it not being in the guidelines. Shame really as I was quite looking forward to that.
Congrats to Evansangel0 -
Congratulations EA :j
SVsandy - I remember being really disappointed after my 16 week appt. It was really quick and I was like "is that it?" Now they're all like that I'm afraid. I do like hearing the heartbeat thoughLeo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Thanks so much for your input ladies, I really appreciate it
there is a screening process before the actual drug bit of the trial so my inclination is to have the screening and go from there.
Winnie In Pooh, if it helps to ease your worries, I am a clinical trial manager. The GP should have given you an information sheet which details exactly why the trial is being run and what involvement you will have. If you have any concerns about the welfare of your baby you should ask ask ask. It sounds like the trial is preventing early labour which is always a good thing for baby. Also, if you do join, by law you at entitled to withdraw from the trial at any point if you wish to do so.
Thanks Sandy, I may PM you the info for you to have a look at if you wouldn't mind? And you have just summed up why so many safe drugs are not licensed for during pregnancy.. people don't want to trial them in case they do affect the baby.
Exactly! Its weighing up that risk and getting it right.koalamummy wrote: »Winnie I can't comment on the trial as I have not read any of the data....but what I can tell you is that I had 2 lots of LETTS carried out between my 1st and 2nd pregnancy in what was considered a risky place concerning viability of 2nd pregnancy.
Sorry KM, I'm not sure what LETTS means? Do you mind me asking how early your boys were?

SVsandy - just to let you know some midwives won't listen to the heartbeart at the 16 week appointment because it can be tricky to pick up at that stage in pregnancy and it can be very worrying for Mum when the hb isn't detected - my midwife said she had to send quite a few ladies for a scan after to reassure them.
They do listen at later appointments though so you should get to hear it at some point0 -
