On the subject of names, to everyone who asks I just say "we don't know" before OH starts reeling off a list. Everyone seems to think that is their cue to suggest names and then they all look horrified when I keep saying no! We have a shortlist, one in particular that I love but OH hates - I shall have to use my feminine charms to get him to change his mind

My boss employed my replacement yesterday too. The plan was always that the replacement would start about a month before I was due to leave as to be fair my work load has decreased quite a lot over the last year or so (I work in construction so there is just a lot less work around atm). Now this girl is starting on 9th May which is about 8 weeks before Im planning to go off - great in that it gives me extra time to train her but according to her CV she seems experienced in using the software that we use etc. so I don't know how im going to fill my days once she has been trained. Plus she will have my computer so I won't even be able to surf the internet.
Wondering whether to bite the bullet and leave earlier than my planned 37 weeks? But I have always thought I'd rather have time with the baby once she is born than before she comes....

Thanks Lirin . Usually I would just grin and bear it but our house is new and I am trying to put up shelves and mirrors and such like as the dust and mess won't be possible after the baby arrives....and I am starting to get a bit short of time.

Apricot I know that it will be a pain just now working alongside your replacement but you may find that you are not actually able to work up to 37 weeks and get signed off sick before then so they may just be erring on the side of caution which will give you one less thing to worry about closer to the time.

Morning all!

Congratulations ice.

I feel for you all with the sleeping. I never realised how much I sleep on my back. Side is fine buy not ALL the time. Findin ky back gets stiff from sleeping in the same position all the time and I just want to stretch out. Not to mention the outside of my hip gets really sore when I lie on it all the time. Ho hum the things we do to keep baby healthy.

Had my 20 week scan and am team blue! Everything look ok and was so amazing to see everything. Had to go for walk, drink and chocolate to make him move as he didn't want to play but I didn't complain as it meant I got to spend longer in there
Part of me was secretly hoping for pink (don't know why) but I am happy with blue and he should get almost everything he needs from my 3 nephews.

Work feels like a holiday camp today. Sun shining, doors and windows open, everyone waiting for this afternoon and hopefully an early finish.

Apricot - my favourite boys name (which I love) has been given an absolute no by OH. I just can't think of anything else in the same way but he won't have it

Thanks so much for your post Alfalfa! So many people seem to tell me all the bad things about birth and being a parent and no one seems to focus on the positives. Your post made me feel loads better.

My 28 week bloods show i'm anemic which means i've got to take iron tablets now. I'm not especially pleased as I've been telling my midwife for weeks I'm exhausted and she's been writing i am tired in my notes and doing nothing about it. Does anyone else not really like/feel uninformed by their midwife? Mine is always in a rush and there's pages with stuff missing in my green book where she's not filled it in. It's my first baby and I just don't feel like I know what I'm doing!

My NCT classes have finished now. I have to say despite being apprehensive to begin with, I really enjoyed them and us girls are going to continue to meet up. One of the girls turned up at the final class with her baby which had come three weeks early! I've never seen such a newborn baby in real life, it was amazing
