Hello everybody hope you are all doing well. :D

Not had the chance to read back yet as had a busy day today and a chaotic night last night including a trip to a and e with my little boy!

My baby is currently very big in fact off the centile range which was initiallythought to be the result of high blood glucose levels as a result of me being diabetic however after blood test I have been found to have lower glucose levels than most non diabetics so the mystery deepens! :o

Hope your little boy is ok koalamummy - was it a scan that said you are having a big baby or just the fundal measurement as I believe that can be inaccurate.

I've just been to ikea to get the drawers for baby - must be at least a month since I said I needed to get them but I've only just got around to it. Managed to resist a hot dog though so am very proud of myself!

Glad your trip to ikea was a success Apricot. :D. I love building furniture but am worried that I won't be able to reach properly by the time the things I ordered arrived. :rotfl:

My little guy is absolutely fine now thanks though he did manage to hit his head so hard off of a wall last night that he made a hole in it....plasterboard wall though! Spent the night doing head injury obs on him and of course for the first and probably only time in his life he decided to sleep for over 12 hours. :rotfl: poor little guy had the accident running to the front door to let his older brother in from school. :(

Babys measurements are from a scan using head and chest cavity circumference. And thigh length so pretty accurate I think. I am still determined that she will be my first baby to reach term no matter how big they think she is. :p

Ah I see. Well hope you get your wish - did they give you an estimated birth weight?

I wish I was having another scan a bit later on just so they could give me an estimated birth weight. Don't want to buy loads of newborn clothes if they are not going to fit! On the other hand my niece was 6lb something born and all the newborn stuff was too big and she needed tiny baby clothes!

    Hi all.

Cot arrived today:j Hopefully we can open it and have a look at the weekend sometime, best get the room finished sorting the stuff out or we will never get it in there! Have started looking at paint too. We have decided on a green and white theme so just need to find a border! All the other stuff has animals on so guess we are looking for a jungle type thing lol.

Have been to the doctors today and got some stuff, they say its pretty common in pregnancy so not to worry.

Its been lovely out today, feel sorry for husband as he is at work til late. Was nice to have the door open and have the sun shining in.

I keep being told I definitely look pregnant now lol! So I should I think since Im at 28 weeks now! When is 3rd trimester, please? I was told all the symptoms of the 1st trimester come back? I hope not :(

Glad you found drawers Apricot - Im looking for some too. I want them to match the cot which is 2 colours so either one would do really. http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Nursery/Cots-and-Cotbeds/Henley-Cotbed-in-Cream-and-Natural%280073818%29

Thank you. :D. They never gave any estimate but am only 30+1 just now so hoping to have her grow for a few weeks longer before worrying about birth weight. :o. Both of my boys were preterm and I had the tiny baby clothes for them but they were both really tiny. Not sure if you have one near you but Dunnes stores do a great newborn size which I think is something like up to 7.5 lbs which is a good bit smaller than many shops offer. :). I have already bought a supply of tiny baby and early baby sleep suits although I am secretly hoping that they will be a waste of money that for once I will be very happy about. :rotfl:

Supermaiden your cot is lovely. :D. Not sure about furniture though would the natural wood range from Ikea that you paint yourself possibly be any use as I think you will be able to get exact colour match paint mixed for you at B and Q or Homebase? :)

    hey everyone :)

I found the nhs antenatal classes not very good to be honest :( i liked looking round the delivery suite etc but other than that we had a bloke talk for over an hour about reuseable nappies (BORING), another one had a woman came to talk about breast feeding she had her son with her who was about 2 years old who she proceeded to breast feed much my OH's horror (he doesnt like breast feeding it makes him feel quite uncomfortable, plus she didnt give him much warning!!) other than that didnt learn anything that I didnt already know. Hope others found it more productive :)

Sending major labour vibes to those who want them :) xx

Yeah, just goes to show how they differ in different areas. Mine were three evenings; first one was mainly chatting about the different stages of labour and what to expect, the second about pain management and the third more about feeding and caring for your baby. They mentioned disposable nappies but weren't pressurizing at all, they talked about breast feeding and positions, but also said they were happy if we decided to formula feed. We both said we are going to b/f so maybe they chatted a bit longer on that topic because of that.

Yours sound poop, what a shame :( You have had yours early though, you're not due until September are you?

Another day visiting the oldest baby on maternity at the moment :(

First thing, Nicola calls, the doctor has said that she has to stay in for another night. Good god, what is going on, so on arrival I ask the midwife why? She checks her chart, oh no, she can go today, her blood pressure is fine. It got high late yesterday as we sat and waited towards the end of the day for her to be sent home, I wonder why?! She wants to be at home.

I then asked if the results from the 48 hours blood test that was carried out on Saturday had been returned. "We'll check". Your colleague was checking twice yesterday and never said.

2.30 arrives and the care assistant comes to the bed. "Have babies bloods come back yet?", "Oh yes, negative", "Does that mean we can go home?" "The doctor will want to do another blood test but it's only 2 hours for the result to come back". Great :D

3pm the doc arrives and baby has more bloods taken. "The result will take 2 hours and then you can go home if they are fine".

5pm, I ask if the blood result is back as we'd really like to go home.

    6pm I ask again.

6.45pm - Midwife is finishing but will do handover and tell the other that we are waiting.

7.30pm - I go to the midwife office to find out what is going on.

7.35pm - "The test came back as insufficient but Nicola is down to stay another night in any event". This is the third time this test has came back as insufficient, Saturday, Sunday and now Tuesday. If they bothered to look on Monday when I asked they would have seen the result from Sunday and done the test again, so Nicola gets upset again, at 10pm an hour after I get home, they do her blood pressure it's up again despite being low all day.

I'm getting so annoyed now, how long can they drag this out for? Baby looks fine and is passing every physical test but can't pass a blood test as they won't take enough blood. The wife is stressed as I leave and when I arrive and is taking it out on me, I can't help her apart from badgering the midwife team to try and chase the results but they won't do it. They just ignore each request to check for the results.
  • I ordered my cot today :j & can't wait for it to come so we can set it up.

I now have my pram, my cot, a pack of Huggies newborn nappies (they were free), a sterilizer & bottles and i'm hoping to get some babygrows/vests etc tomorrow as I've got £30 of Tesco vouchers.

Just need the bedding & smaller items now. :T

I've not had a baby for over 12 years so it's all new to me again & i'm bound to of forgotten something. :rotfl:
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.
