Before anybody gets into a panic over amputation, it may be worth noting that it's NOT a common effect of Reynauds. When it is very severe, there is a small chance of developing ulcers in the extremities, especially if you are not treating it already or if you're immobile for a long period of time. Ulcers that are not prevented can result in partial amputation of fingers and toes. For the record, I still have all my fingers and toes, as far as I can see and it is mostly just controlled by lifestyle changes (gloves, not rummaging in the freezer for too long... etc) and you can also take calcium channel blockers or vasodilators for it.

How are we unlucky? It is my mother has Reynauds.. though I do sometimes wonder how it would work with my arthritis.. do you think they might cancel each other out? lol
We can all walk and talk (much to other peoples displeasure) we live full active lives and noone is terminally ill or confined to a wheelchair or bed bound.. I think we are all very very lucky that the problems we do have are small in comparison to others issues..
Tell you what though.. I am glad I haven't just had the op to fix a varicose vein my stepdad just had done.. in his scrotum!!! That can't be good!mrsspendalot wrote: »Sorry, haven't read back yet ... will catch up in a mo
I've just been to the antenatal unit for my anti-D injection and they told me I have somehow developed rhD antibodies
They're sending off my blood to a larger hospital for specialist tests but I won't know for 2 weeks what the outcome is. In the meantime I'm really worried now as to what this will mean. I've never had a problem with my rhesus status before
They said that the consultant wanted me to have antiD injection anyway, so I've had it. Feel rather flat now wondering how the blood might have got mixed, as I've had no bleeding or anything
It might not be the baby blood that caused the antibodies.. it could have been OH's.. I developed Anti-c antibodies from my OH which was picked up when I was pregnant with Squeak.. so long as they are aware then allis well and baby will be looked afterI actually have 5 different lots of antibodies from him but only 1 is dangerous to the baby or me thankfully.

Hello All,
My first day off has been productive. I can see an end in sight to the work we've had going on in the house- painting of the hall and landing starts tomorrow. Moved in here 6 years ago and we've gradually been renovating the place- this is the last stage so very exciting- here's to an end to plaster dust .
I filled 6 carrier bags and dropped off at charity bag- making a start to tidying up the baby's room.
Did some pruning in the garden- this was OK but the bending down picking up leaves and branches afterward made my belly and back sore so I had to lie down for an hour afterward.Silly really- but frustrating to see jobs that normally I would do at this time of year and know I shouldn't do them.
Somebody was talking about Jungle themed nursery stuff. Our moses basket is "My Jungle Family" from Mothercare. I wanted gender neutral but colours not cream/white so this was perfect.

Its on sale at the moment as is the rest of the range including border, mat, lampshade, sheets etc.

Oh .... even more puzzled now
I have always been quite confident that I knew about what my rhesus status meant for pregnancy, but this has completely thrown me. The midwife was really puzzled too.
Just had a look on the hospital website for the place where they have sent my blood and it's saying that they class levels higher than 4 as the cut off for whether they treat you or not, and my antibody level is 4.2 already
What kind of extra care will you need to have with your antibodies then?Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

This is TMI.. sorry.. move to next thread if you don't want to see..
Apparently when having sex the man can bleed a little (apparently more common if 'above average') and it was this blood which made contact with mine.. could have been a graze on the cervix or anything.. OR something equally simple.. cut lip and kissing for example.. it only needs a tiny bit of blood for your immune system to go wild apparently... some people react more than others which is why some have high levels of antibodies and some low.
For mine, the antibodies can attack the blood of the baby causing anaemia or severe jaundice or in very very severe cases, death. It may require blood transfusions in utero.. or may be absolutely fine. They want to do bloods at every antenatal (every 4 then every 2 weeks then every week) to check levels if it gets to 6.5 the check the babys blood too.. I think I had them done at 10, 28 and 34 weeks with Squeak.. I don't do antenatals and the levels were fine and didn't change which is why they think it was not from the baby but from OH.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I tell mine he can't be that ill if he doesn't want anything to make him feel better... so he best shut up before he is REALLY ill.

Thanks - I guess the tests will reveal all then. Just hard not to worry about something like this until you hear it is all fine:(

Hello,
Another day of visiting.
The doctor came first thing, 9am and we didn't see him again today.
The midwife team have been in and out a couple of times but I'm starting to get annoyed at the system.
4pm - Any sign of the blood results? I've not checked, but I will.
6pm - Had the bloods come back? I've not checked yet.
Good god, do these people not think that to pop back and say no is better than ignoring people.
Nicolas blood pressure is up, the nurses are waiting for the doctor to look at her rates. Erm, I wonder why she is stressed.
We went to the bath show today on the ward, but still can't bath baby due to the IV
Amelia appears fine, she has been teaching me how to change nappies today

Gosh mrsspendalot sounds a bit nervewracking - hope you get some answers soon... Good luck wendz!
I had my consultant's appointment today - a throwback from genetic tests but he's concerned that my bp is a bit raised and wants to see the results of the colposcopy too. Baby was nice and fidgety again on his mobile ultrasound so that at least that puts our last fears about SIL's condition to rest - severe condition would show up in fetal movements genetic counsellor said.
High bp means I get an extra scan in a couple of weeks yippee but I'm still going to try and resist changing from team yellow. Has anyone had an intrauterine scan after 20 weeks? I think that's what doc said I have to have. Ah well will see when appointment comes through. have to go on junior aspirin after my Thursday test to see if we can knock bp down. Also have to lay off sweeties as I had glucose in urine again - bad mummy x
hope all new babies arrive safely
lots of love and hugs
ps forgive iPhone spelling/formatting - my pudgy fingers will need practice for labour ward updates a la Keith xteam yellow
Can't wait to meet you now baby!0
