Not once but twice at that! :D. But I wasn't 39weeks pregnant at the time! It was not so great 3 months after they were born and I still had my interesting half done done hallway that I wasn't very good at passing off as an art statement! :rotfl:

Apricot, I left my last week sample in the car for two weeks. I only remembered it was there when the dog was chewing it on the back seat

I think from reading what it says on the direct.gov website its done from EDD not when the baby actually arrives. Not 100% of this is right but thats what I am interpreting it as (somebody please tell me I am wrong :D).

So annoying because OH wanted to have 2 weeks paternity pay and then use 2 weeks holiday but now looks like he will just have to have 2 weeks holiday.

The paternity pay is only £100 something a week anyway, so he would probably be better off taking it as holiday.

Unfortunately my OH has had to take a fair bit of time off due to us moving house and viewing houses, so he will only be able to take a week off *hopefully* though it's going to be tight and may be looking like we won't be able to afford for him to have any paternity leave at all

My husband is self employed so isn't able to take any form of paternity leave :-( Plan is for one week at home not working (which means no pay whatsoever) after baby is born then back to work, I find this quite scary but we don't have an alternative unfortunately.

However on the brightside being self employed does mean he is in control of his working hours, which often means very early finishes which will be nice.

Alfalfa - good luck, I hope everything is going well for you!

When DS was born OH took 1 week paternity at £120 for the week. He could have earned £140 gross a day if he had taken it as holiday which really sucked! Especially when having a new born we could have done with the proper wage coming in x
