  • The only time expressing was easy for me was when DS was 2 weeks old and I got admitted due to retained placenta. They wouldn't let DS stay on the ward with me because it wasn't the postnatal ward, just a women's ward. I was ready to burst, leaking everywhere .... I really embarassingly called the healthcare assistant and asked if there was anything they could do for me, and she came back with an electric medela breastpump from the special care baby unit, and I was able to express enough to fill 2 bottles and take away my discomfort!!! It was heaven!!! I did, however, sound like I was a cow being milked on a machine :rotfl:

mmmm perhaps I should get one of these this time ;)

Do you know if the Tommee Tippee bottles are OK to go in the freezer, or is it better to get some other container to put the milk in for the freezer? :)
You'll probably want to store the milk in something else so that you have the bottles available for feeding. I don't know whether it was a temporary thing but I know last summer Home Bargains had breast milk storage bags loads cheaper than Boots. (I may have stocked up somewhat.)

I know how you feel hun, your moods can change with the click of your fingers.
I was fine up until going to work, and now that the new hires have settled in, i feel like a spare part.
But try not to let it get to you too much, pretty soon, you're going to be holding a beautiful baby, and you can look back and reflect on the fab night you're going to have tonight watching Peter Kay, i love him ;)

Thanks Jojo xxx am just sore and tired and emotional and you are right it is just the click of the fingers and I turn into a jibbering wreck lol....am going to make my Shepherd's pie and take my silly hormones into the kitchen with me, lol

  • I've got a electric medela breastpump & it certainly works really well but it's a strange old experience. I expressed a lot for DS as it made life easier at the time. At least I could miss the late evening feed & go to bed ;)

Had a rotten weekend. DS is poorly, I've hardly slept in 2 nights as a result. I had hoped he'd be back at school tomorrow but he really needs another day home. Made me feel rather worried about those first few weeks/months once the baby is here & how I'm going to cope on less sleep, especially if DS has me up at night as well, could be a touch challenging.

I used an electric breastpump and had no problems expressing. I know lots of people get on fine with a manual one but I think personally having to concentrate on manually pumping would have made it harder for me. Totally worth the money and there's a good second hand market on eBay so even if you don't get on with it you can recoup some of your money.

I found it mystifying that she didn't just bring a bag in.

Same here, or why her husband didn't bring the bag when she first sent him off...

My OH said " do you think you'll get to keep your boobs once the baby is born?" Lol

My DH has said "I cant wait until your milk comes in, they look fantastic. I know i cant touch but i can look"
I said "I thought you hated big hard boobs?" (When we spoke about boobs jobs he said he hated big hard ones)
And he replied "Yeah but these are natural so its ok that i love them" :rotfl:

Today i realised that we now only have 96 days left!

    TMI Alert:
Also, i bought some fybogel (its sooo nice) but it doesn't seem to of worked well. When i feel i really need to go, nothing happens. And if something does happen, its only 1 small bit and thats it.
My tummy cramps up aswell, which really hurts :(
