Thanks hun, will have to make a note of that! I thought it would be Ok for around a week in the fridge, but 6 months in freezer? Wow!

Do you know if the Tommee Tippee bottles are OK to go in the freezer, or is it better to get some other container to put the milk in for the freezer? :)

I bought some breast milk freezer bags from Boots I think. They had a space to write the date on so you knew when it would go off.

    I agree.

Although I was never comfortable feeding in front of visitors so fed upstairs anyway. (Actually I pretty much always fed upstairs as it was more convenient but that's beside the point.)

My MIL has been getting on to me that she wants to be there at the birth and even though I have said no (I mean seriously the less people that see my foof the better!) she keeps guilting me saying how she has never seen a baby be born.
I don't see why it should be your job to let her see a baby being born if she hasn't seen one before. Surely most people never get to see a baby being born in real life unless it's their own.

Cant remember who else has doggies :wall: and they were going to maybe put them in kennels. I cant put my little girl in kennels cause she associates it with the rescue centre and gets very upset:( So OH plans on taking the dog to his dads when things kick off , cant say Im pleased because then my MIL will know im in labour and will probs turn up at the hospital. Actually considering her lack of interest so far she might not be bothered her back side and we will no doubt need to take baby to see her. Oh the joys
If you think there is a real chance of that happening, I would ask the hospital to turn her away if she turns up.

  • I'm not even going to bother trying to express this time - took far too long last time to get a decent amount out, just not worth the hassle!

lol! - I'm so glad it's not just me mrsspendalot - when I had my first they made expressing sound so easy but alas I found the same as you and when I had DD no better luck.

I think the electric pumps are supposed to better but still I'm not banking on being able to do it :o

The only time expressing was easy for me was when DS was 2 weeks old and I got admitted due to retained placenta. They wouldn't let DS stay on the ward with me because it wasn't the postnatal ward, just a women's ward. I was ready to burst, leaking everywhere .... I really embarassingly called the healthcare assistant and asked if there was anything they could do for me, and she came back with an electric medela breastpump from the special care baby unit, and I was able to express enough to fill 2 bottles and take away my discomfort!!! It was heaven!!! I did, however, sound like I was a cow being milked on a machine :rotfl:

I know how you feel hun, your moods can change with the click of your fingers.
I was fine up until going to work, and now that the new hires have settled in, i feel like a spare part.
But try not to let it get to you too much, pretty soon, you're going to be holding a beautiful baby, and you can look back and reflect on the fab night you're going to have tonight watching Peter Kay, i love him ;)

Regarding breastfeeding, I am not going to be doing it in public or around anyone apart from OH. Simply do not feel comfortable about the idea of it. Could change my mind though. Fully intend to express and keep some bottles of milk ready for outings/visitors. Oh, I have a question - how long will expressed milk be OK in the fridge and freezer for?
I've read different figures in different places but the one I remember is 6 hours at room temperature, 6 days in the fridge and 6 months in the freezer. I never had any go off but apparently it is really obvious when it does.

I think Alice was almost one before I breastfed in public. In the very early days I was far too exposed when doing it and needed twenty seven million pillows. When I got a bit better at it, I used to do it in the car. By the time she was one, feeds were shorter and didn't involve multiple toilet stops which made feeding when out and about more feasible.
Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.
