I didn't question it too much at the time I must admit as he was my first and it was what the HV recommended - this might have changed nowdays (this was over 8 years ago)
They probably are both first milk, i cant remember either and it was 3 years ago lol. I just didnt realise they could go on it from birth. I thought they would get more milk in the first few weeks, but then if the amount they needed was huge then switch.
I think it was when DS was on 8-9oz each feed the HV suggested it as that amount of volume would make him huge. Im the same, I just did as I was told.
I started weaning at around 5 months too with him as he was a grubber, so he wasnt on just bottles of hungry baby milk for long.
Where as DD was BF for a couple of months then on yellow top until she started weaning at around 6 months.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

She may not respond that well coming from others espec if they don't have personal experience.
I just sent her an inbox saying:
Maybe the new milk is a bit too thick for him hun - *** said that was the case when she tried her little girl on it. Have a word with your health visitor perhaps?
She replied saying
yeah I will. I put him on tht because hed drink an ounce n half n spit his bottle out bu was like he was stil hungry lookin 4 mre so I'd try him buu hed spit it out n then hed wake up a hour later 4 mre bu jus have a few sips !thing is though hell wake up at 2 n stay awake till 4!xx
Me:
He probably doesnt have any idea about day and night yet - you know im no expert but *my sister* always made sure nights were kept v dark and quiet and calm but in the day when she slept she made a bit of background noise to help her differentiate.
He's only got a little tummy so he just probably wants to feed little and often.
Her:
thankyou xx I jus worries im doin it all wrong I wan him to be perfect xx
Excuse the spellings I just c&p it. I had to say something and I don''t think she took it too badly - she's literally got no one (except her boyfriend):happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

Yes my DD was similar to yours - I am wondering if this girlie will be the same.
I reckon chances are the advice on formula milk has changed in the 7-8 years I've been out of the game so to speak - from what Teenie posted yesterday doesn't sound like there's loads of guidance either around it now - bit trial and error.
Shame as sounds like Apricot's friend could really do with some help!0 -
Our car has gone into the garage for the third time in three weeks, is actually driving me mental!
What car have you got hun? Sounds like a nightmareI have finally got a physio appointment :j I went to the doctors a few weeks ago with back and pelvis pain, was told that there's no way I'd see an NHS physio before I dropped (think I had about 12 weeks to go at that point), he then gave me a card for a private physio that he knows  Last night took the dog for a short walk (literally no more than 1/2 mile), came home and was in agonywoke up this morning and could hardly walk, had to phone in sick at work (its becoming a fortnightly thing now, they are really good at my work but I don't like taking time off), went to the docs again this morning, saw a lovely female doctor who called a physio and got me booked in for next week! She thinks I have SPD but said that they'll be able to help, don't know if it was the hormones but I nearly cried with relief!
Sorry for the rant/essay!
BB xx
P.S. Did the facebook preg group ever get started?xx
I'd recommend you don't take the dog out for a walk if you have got SPD as it reaally, really, hurts afterwards - and during. I used to go on weekly long walks and ended up being in agony after, I'm sure this is what has made my SPD worse. Probably would have been alright otherwise. Damned annoying, I love walking. Though maybe you don't have anyone else who can take your dog out? Tough one. Hope the physio helps you. I must say my appointment on Tuesday seems to have helped a fair bit. Got some exercises to do but keep forgetting. I just have to do little bits around the house, then sit down for a while. Very frustrating but the pain is too much otherwise.
I may see about buying a TENS machine then. The ELLE seems good, but don't really know anything about them. Do they mention them at the antenatal classes?
The bl%dy Boots changing bag... Think I'll just give up... OH will have to use my fabulous Pink Lining one as well :rotfl: Hope you get yours LabLover.
Got a house viewing tonight. Was all excited until I looked at the street view on Google and not sure about the parking situ. It says off road parking on the description. No way are we paying that much rent if the parking isn't off road/proper. They also want an extra £100 deposit per cat, we have 2, so will work out quite expensive. Not looking so good now, but we'll have a look anyway.0 -
Someone just posted "why are you giving him that - he's way too young you idiot"
She replied "well he only takes 1.5 oz of the other milk but is keeping his mouth open as if he wants more but won't drink"
I feel sorry for her, she's only 18 and was removed from her family at 14 and hasn't seen any of them since....I want to help but don't want to come across condecending.
ETA: I totally should finish catching up before I post - it sounds like you said the right things and she took it pretty well.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

That sounds like good advice and not condescending at all. Poor girl, sounds like shes really trying. Try and encourage her to speak to her HV, they should be there to guide and support her.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Its came round so quickly. i feel as though ive been counting up to 40 weeks until now. But now I feel im counting down lol does that make sense?
ive also expanded in the last week or so. it could of been my weekend of stuffing my face though. But my jacket is only just zipping up, its getting too tight though. i hope Spring is early this year so I dont need to buy a new jacket.
LOL me too, and my bump has taken a stretch overnight too I think!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0
