  • Thanks GFH :)I have a little 'zone' I get myself into for smears, internals and dildos. So I'll just make sure I do that. It does involve being at the Drs though, as their ceiling is more interesting than mine, and that's what I need :D. Not sure I'd want it done at home anyway.

  • It's good that you would rather be at the docs.

Thanks for the replies on sweeps. The only reason I've been unsure is that several friends have said how uncomfortable they've been and how much they hated them, and I should avoid them if I can.

I don't have a problem with internal examinations (had plenty leading up to my laperoscopy, and a couple right at the start of my pg).

How do they compare to smear tests and dildo cams in terms of uncomfortableness (is that a word??). Is there a chance of my waters breaking during or shortly after? Don't want to look like I've wet myself walking back from the Drs :o

I think I will go with one, just to try and reduce the liklihood of being induced.

It is uncomfortable but only for the few seconds it takes, and not as uncomfortable as a smear IMO.

I don't think your waters will break during or shortly after, never heard of that happening anyway. At worst there will be very slight spotting, but not every time, so maybe take a pad with you to put on afterwards.

I found it really strange when I was in hospital in December that nobody else's children visited them. Obviously some didn't have children and some were there in early labour but there were plenty who did have children and weren't in early labour and I was the only person who had their child visiting.
I've counted for the 1st time and I'm 17th Woohoo! am I the only one willing away the weeks desperate to get to the top?
I've been counting down since I was seven weeks.
    I don't believe that for a second :p

Im not allowed a smear test for another 3 years :(

They feel the same but they don't bother you as much. I think after you have gone through having a baby someone doing a smear test on you is a walk in the park in comparison :)
  • My experience of a sweep, not as painful as a smear, waters didnt break but did have some 'goo' start coming away afterwards, just take a pad in case they dont give you one. Had my sweep around 11am Thursday morning, DD was born 06.25 Saturday morning.

Dont know if thats any help?
