  • So today has been a busy day at work - is it bad that it's only Tuesday and I'm already looking forward to the weekend? :o Anyway, I've got my lunch all packed for tomorrow and have just settled down to watch an episode of Dexter before getting ready for bed. It's chilly tonight so I'm snuggled up under my blanket with a hot water bottle - seems to be pretty common at the moment. I can't wait for the warmer weather! Fingers crossed for sunshine and perkiness tomorrow. :)

Sometimes it was only the thought of the weekend that got me through Monday :rotfl:

  • Thanks GG and BW - glad to hear it's not just me! It's been another draining day today and quite frankly I feel that I'd have been better off staying in bed and letting the day roll by for all the difference I've made. But thankfully I know that most days aren't like that and the job on the whole is pretty rewarding, otherwise it'd be quite easy to get disillusioned. Anyway I've been for a run to blow the cobwebs away and my 'better' half is coming round in a bit so we're going to have a fish and chip supper and chill out for the evening. :)

  • Well last week was well and truly a draining week at work with various people being rather unpleasant and offensive - I'm guessing there must be something in the air as it really was one thing after another. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this week is much more settled - it's the final week before the Easter holidays so I'm going to keep my head down and try and stay out of the way. It did make me think about my own journey and the freedom that being MF will give me in the future - if I don't like it I'll be in a much more stable position to be able to up and leave, reduce my hours, take on a less stressful job etc. In fact, I think I've spent that much time aiming to be MF that I haven't really given much thought to what I actually want to do when I've finally paid off the house (apart from going on an amazing holiday and having my kitchen ripped out and starting from scratch).

When I started this journey, my goal was to have the mortgage paid off by the time I was 35, which is 17 months away - how time flies! :eek:Looking at my spreadsheet and after putting in my monthly op's, it looks like it's going to be 42 months. That doesn't account for any extra money that I manage to make or save along the way. I'm still aiming to get as close to my 17 month target as possible but there's some serious work to do and I need to have a good think about what I can do to get there. I've been decluttering using the konmarie method this weekend and after taking 4 bags of clothes to the clothes bank and charity shop, there are still quite a few items that I could probably sell. So that's one thing I can do. I'm still doing surveys and sw@gbucks which brings in some money and I'm working on tightening up my food budget. I've also got quite a lot of 'treasures' to sell at carboot sales too. But I do need a plan to get that 42 as near to the elusive 17 as possible, whilst still living a little of course.;) I think I'll wait until the holidays and then try and come up with the final grand plan.

Hope you're all having a great Sunday.

  • Hey, your Council tax seems a little high - are you getting the single persons 25% reduction? Sorry if you've covered this or you live in an area where that's the cost.

Thanks for stopping by shaundiamonds. Good spot - yes I've got single persons reduction which brings it down to £79, just didn't update it on my SOA - oops! :o

  • The Easter hols have finally arrived - yippee! Looking forward to having some time to get my house in order and getting my decluttered 'goodies' listed online and hopefully sold. I've just sold a couple of books on Am@zon so will post them tomorrow - I've not posted anything for ages so I'm hoping it wont cost me too much.

:T happy holidays for you :) Hope you have a great break x
  • Thanks BW :) Good news on the postage prices, they didn't cost as much as I thought, so I've made just short of £9.00 for selling a couple of books which will go straight towards an op as soon as it hits my account. :jIt's the small things that can make a MFW's day! ;)

I was hoping that I could officially turn the heating off today but it's been so cold and I've got a load of washing to dry ready for going away on Monday so I've put it on for a couple of hours. I love going on holiday but I absolutely hate packing, it always feels like such a long, drawn out process - yuk!:( I've spent today slowly working my way through my to-do list of pre-holiday jobs so will hopefully come home to a nice, organised home. :)

    Have a great Saturday everyone!
