  • Another week has flown by, I don't know where the time goes! I think I spoke too soon about how well my running was going in my last post, i've hurt my Achilles tendon so need to rest it until i'm fully recovered :o. However, i'm not going to let it get me down as I know that I need to be sensible and put my health first, running on it when it's not properly recovered will only lead to further (and possibly more serious) injury.

I've decided to turn the small bedroom into a reading room and yesterday made my first purchase for it, it's a beautiful Tracy Savage print which i've wanted for ages. I bought it out of my xmas money, it really is beautiful. Now I just need to gather enough money to purchase a comfy armchair and i'll be all set to go.

I've done a bit of decluttering this weekend and have listed a few things on the local fb selling pages - hopefully they'll sell and i'll have a few extra pounds to go into the op pot. Apart from that and my weekly tutoring, that's about it.

Hope you've all had a good weekend,

  • Long time, no update but rest assured I've been very busy in the background collecting the pennies to put towards the mortgage. :D I haven't been able to scrape together as much as I wanted to for this months op as it's my partner's birthday and I'm taking her on a surprise trip away for a few days. It'll be lovely to get a few days away together and we're both really looking forward to it.

It's the end of term so I've got a couple of weeks off work. I've spent the first week pottering around the house, planting veggies and painting the 'reading room' and bathroom ceiling (the next day I could feel muscles that I didn't even know that I had!). I've also made sure I've spent lots of time relaxing - most of which has involved curling up under a cozy blanket and reading. I've managed to sell a few bits and pieces on fb but there's still plenty more to get listed, so that'll be a job to get done before the holidays are over.

Apart from that, that's it. I'm looking forward to our little break away and disconnecting for a while - bliss :).

    Where you off to MG?

We've just got back from a weekends camping in north Norfolk. Never been to that part of the country before but loved it and will be going back. Lots of cooking over the campfire and very MSE at £6 a night :D

Thank you ICTD. It was a bit dull and drizzly but we made the most of it and had an amazing time! :)

Linz - we went to Liverpool through N@tional Holid@ys. It was amazing value for money £99pp for 2 nights with bed, breakfast and 3 course evening meal included - plus transport there and back. It was lovely to get a couple of days away but we did so much while we were there that we needed a rest by the time we got back. :o

Back to reality now though and i'm still plugging away at the mortgage. I've not been able to put as much towards it as i'd hoped to as the car has needed some unexpected work doing. :(

Today has been spent in the garden planting sweetcorn, sorrel, lettuce, radish and land cress seeds; as well as planting out some pea plants and digging trenches for some old, abandoned asparagus plants that have randomly decided to sprout. It's been bliss getting out into the sunshine. I've also been battling with a broody bantam who keeps sitting in the nesting box and gets very cross when she's moved. Hopefully she'll snap out of it soon.

So far this month i've managed to op £209 towards the mortgage. I'm hoping to get lots of decluttering done this month and bulk it up as much as possible. I'm aiming for £500 so watch this space! :D

Thanks ICTD :). The OP pot isn't as full as I'd have liked it to be this month - so far I've managed to op £365, not quite the £500 I wanted but the month isn't over yet and I've got plenty of 'goodies' listed on fb so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a few last minute sales..

Time has flown once again and I've spent most of my free time this month in the garden sorting out the veg patches and just trying to keep things tidy. I've started to majorly declutter my house, one room at a time. So far I've done the dining room and the shed, both have given me plenty of things to sell and the charity shop pile is growing too so I'm happy and feeling more organised than I have done in a long time. :D I've also been busy sw@gbucking and have made £15 worth of vouchers as well as claimed another £20 from various survey sites. When they turn up I'll add their equivalent to the op pot.

In other news, my mortgage is now below £60k :j I was so pleased when I checked my statement and saw the lovely '5' at the beginning of the number. My next aim is to get it below £50k by the end of the year - eek!

    Great stuff, well done :T

Mortgage girl I am very late to the party but to redeem myself I have read your whole diary and caught up to speed with your journey as best I can!

First things first, I want some chickens!

And more importantly, well done on making such amazing progress on your own, it must feel so liberating. I'm particularly impressed with your running efforts and have also signed myself up for silly mad runs this summer.

    All the best,

    Floppy
