LOL yeah that would be us!
And by us I mean where I live and not us as in me, myself, and I:rotfl:
I find it hard to believe that we are the only people that have had problems with this company though
Either that or I'm a lone nutter0 -
UPDATE
After some action from our local councilor, letters advising residents of who they could claim compensation, and a local residents meeting, everyone in the affected area recieved this letter today.....
Letter received today....
Dear Resident
Re: xxxxx Village xxxx Avenue Development
As you will be aware work on the above development is now well underway. Although it is accepted by the majority that living next to a building site will have an element of disruption to everyday life, this particular development has been blighted with an number of technical issues which has compounded the disruption to the local residents.
In order to assist in the communications and the understanding of the building works taking place, a regular weekly site meeting is being held between Haslam Homes Directors and the site personnel and the local ward councillor and the resident's representative. These meetings have proved extremely useful in helping each party understand each others problems and frustrations.
As part of these discussions and as gesture of goodwill from Haslam Homes for the inconvenience and disruption caused to those residents directly effected by the works, we would like to provide each resident with a payment of £50 each. This will be made in the form of an individual cheque. Please find attached to the bottom of the letter a return slip confirming your name, address and the name you wish the cheque to made payable to. Also enclosed is a pre-paid return envelope. We would be grateful if you could return the slip within the next 7 days and we will endeavour to deliver cheques to you before Christmas.
It should be noted that this payment is a one off gesture of good will and does not affect individual claims for anyone who can prove loss due to the works being undertake by Haslam Homes. Anyone who feels that they have a genuine claim should write a letter outlining specific costs to the address above and we will assess each claim on it's own merits.
We greatly appreciate your patience over the last 9 months whilst we have been on the site and would like to apologise for any inconvenience cause during the construction works.
Yours Faithfully
{personally signed}
this letter arrived less than 48 hours after the local councillor sent a letter telling us all we have cause for complaint and claim for compensation.
Any comments about what I should or shouldn't do. This really isn't about the money it's about being able to walk down our street without feeling as though you are running the gauntlet or not have to worry about if you have enough candles in for the night JIC the electric gets cut off again!0 -
Good news!
I would accept the £50 because it does state that it is not a bar to further action (I have no doubt that you won't be throwing it, but just make sure you keep the letter somewhere safe!).Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks, I am going to accept the £50 and I am already half way through writing an individual claim. I just feel really validated by the letter because it acknowledge that what we've had to put up with is above and beyond the normal mess and disruption you would expect, and that we villagers aren't just a bunch of moaners LOL0

nice result looby...perhaps you should all pool the £50s and use it to fight a bigger action ...
merry ChristmasI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Just found this thread, made me laugh I swear it could have been posted by my dad :rotfl: His street had the very same problems (not a Haslam development though) when a large development was being built right in front of their houses, they complained but nothing was ever done.
Glad you've got a result!but I can't believe they are offering compensation! :rotfl: I think I'd tell them to use the £50 quids to buy relevant materials to ensure the site near you and their other developments are made safe with extra barriers/signs/stuff to fill holes with etc
That dust is a pain though, I'm certain they are required to keep this damp/'water it' at the end of each day?The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

If for one second I thought that the money would go towards that and not just in the directors christmas party fund I would happily "donate" it.That dust is a pain though, I'm certain they are required to keep this damp/'water it' at the end of each day?
Its gone from one extreme to the other now... the dust isn't a problem at the moment....it's the mud! I wish I was a hippo because if I were I would be in paradise living round here at moment LOL Even one of the builders jokingly offered to buy me and my ds a pair of wellies for Christmas after witnessing us wade through the mini mud slide every morning just to get to school!0 -
Stick on some wellys and a hard hat, walk through the building site and look for the porta kabins. Find the site foreman and give him what for. Failing that, ring HH up and tell them you are going to get in contact with the HSE.This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0
