Don't panic - I never get petrol until my light comes on! Most cars will do approx. 30 miles after the light comes on ;)
Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!

Don't lots of people just wait for the petrol light before getting petrol? It's fairly normal I think. Anyway topped up the petrol today so no petrol light :)

Got another goody bag today, nothing spectacular, just some sweets, perfume samples and a few samples from L'occitane. Had to queue for a bit after work to get it. @Souk great way of getting people into your shop-a goody bag event at 6pm, the queue was miles long :)

Then I had to rush away because I had to visit a friend in hospital. He's had some tests and is probably going home tomorrow. Brought him a cappuccino and some mini cupcakes from the cafe across the road as an alternative to grapes! The coffee fix cheered him up much more than I could :)

I visit people in hospital a bit because I live so near that it's no problem. Lots of people from the country get really stressed about attending city hospitals which are often over 100 miles from home, it can be really difficult sometimes for visitors because of the long distance, being afraid of city driving plus the expense of the trips. I live within walking distance of the main hospital so it's easy for me to do small things like buying toothpaste or chocolate but quite useful to someone who's not in a position to go to the corner shop.

Oh and 2 girls at the clothes shop goody bag event were wearing the same dress.......the dress I almost wore today :o This is what happens when you buy clothes in Primark :undecided It's dusky pink with a bird print. Would look vintage if only 1 person was wearing it, can't find a picture.

    Hiya Mags,

very annoying male attitude re weight.

Even more annoying about reduced curves opening hours but what a great friend you are for being a hospital visitor - coffee & cupcakes over grapes everytime :D.

People turning up in the same clothes is one of the reasons I never buy supermarket stuff; there are so many around here I'd be bound to bump into someone wearing the same thing ... and it's usually not by someone I'd want to look the same as either ;)

:) My main reason for avoiding cheap clothes is that I'm almost professional at finding the expensive ones reduced to similar prices in sales. Like @shoegals Carvela shoes.

The coffee thing is so ridiculous. My mothers painter who's almost finished the painting has a serious coffee addiction. He walks into the local town sometimes twice a day to buy coffee. That wouldn't be so noteworthy except that it's nearly an hours walk in both directions :rotfl:My mother is almost certain by now that he doesn't drive which is just strange for a painter living out the country.

He's not doing all this walking during work hours by the way, he makes one trip in the evening and his landlady (who drives) has been seen delivering coffee during the day. My tea drinking mother has provided a jar of gold blend which he also drinks but it's the takeaway stuff he seems to require.

I've been telling my mother to bring him coffee but she's totally not comfortable with shopping for coffee, she was telling me it would spill in the car so she got him some cigarettes instead :D

Then the guy in hospital was rather thrilled with his cappuccino and I seem to buy a lot of coffee too.

It's the most anti-MSE habit possible but so many people are doing it. Anyone know why we are so addicted to take-away coffee?

The guy who commented on the ladys weight was on the phone just now, he wanted to know if I'd seen her recently---he said she's put on weight :(. I've not seen her so I can't comment on this but he's sticking with his opinion unfortunately.

Todays coupon bargain was 2 bottles of Dettol spray cleaner for €0.35 each. It's reduced to €1.35 in T*sco and I used Pigsback €1 coupons. Could print more but I can't be cluttering my house up too much with bargains.

Bought a pair of shoes in the Primark sale, €9 RRP €23. I don't like the idea of paying €23 for Primark shoes when you can get shoes in Debenhams or similar for €30 reduced from €100 @70% off. The shoes are pale blue wedges with a few gold studs. They look much more expensive than Primark and are reasonably comfortable so I'm sure they'll be useful to pull a outfit together.

Speaking of sales I saw a poster for the Next sale starting tomorrow @5am :eek:I don't get this at all, I know there'll be a huge queue and so many people attend this religiously but it's not for me. Not just because of the 5am start, if I really wanted to be there I would get out of bed for it but I find clothes from Next kind of frumpy :undecided (on me anyway)

    Hi Mags,

    new shoes sound lovely :).

I'm with you re Next clothes, whilst I do like a lot of them & have a couple of frocks from there, they often don't suit me either. I tend to think of them as being for 'grown up women', which is exactly what I should be :rotfl:. No sale is worth getting up at that time.

I think that most of the high street chains do design for a specific type of female. I remember reading that River Island has ranges based on 4 women who are friends but all with different styles. I love their jeans & find they fit me better than any other brand, but don't tend to buy much else in there.

I had a huge double handled cup of coffee today as met up with a friend & she treated me, but otherwise I rarely buy take outs - too much money, I'd rather have Gin ;)

I drink barely any alcohol, can't bear hangovers :)

Interesting about River Island. I've heard people who shop at Next say M+S is old-fashioned/ for older people but I like their limited collection (but not per una).

Would love to have more shops I dislike, it would save me time and money :) I don't spend much on clothes really, most things I buy cost less than €20 but the original RRP would usually be four times that. I do frequent shops quite a bit especially this time of year for final clearance prices so while it's cheap it's also time consuming.

I don't even get very excited about bargains, I fully expect to get them. I saw a new season dress on the window at Warehouse today and I really liked it. I didn't check but it's probably almost €100. In a few months it'll be on the sale rail. I think the high street is going to be in worse trouble than ever come Sept/Oct, with rising gas bills, etc nobody will buy those clothes.

    Hi Mags

How are you? I'll be looking for some bargain clothes soon, my holiday refund will now be going on some new pieces :)

    @LittleBoots glad you're back with us :)

Not feeling good today, really bad headache, migrane maybe (I'm not quite sure where one stops and the other starts but it was so bad that I had to go home early from work and hide under the duvet for a few hours. I'm ok now but I think it happened because I was too busy all weekend and didn't really have any time to relax.

I worked in the friends pub Saturday night and yesterday. It's the chatting to people all day that leaves me exhausted rather than the actual work I do there. Some of these people I love meeting, it's where I met the love of my life ex quite a few years ago. His band were singing there that night and still do sometimes.

Met the painter again too even though I'd been trying to avoid him. He bought me coffee :o when I gave him a lift to town. Petrol station coffee rather than sitting in a coffee-shop on a date type coffee :rotfl:I was mortified considering that he's working for my mother and doing an amazing job it's me who should be buying the coffee so I bought a box of cigarettes for him to return the favour. Glad I don't buy those for myself, they are expensive. The painting should be finished today.

Got my iphone bill and it's almost €50 :( It's supposed to be €40. The extra cost was for calling 1890 numbers about insurance. Really expensive for such calls but I don't have a landline so what can you do.
