My brain hurts just thinking about it. Seriosuly considering a change in career !
That was the cheapest wooden coffin, the cardboard ones were actually more expensive.0 -
I would have liked your dad
I'd order a coffin online in a second... but I'd make sure it was clear from the shape exactly what it was and hint to the courier that I had vampires in the house :rotfl::rotfl:
I imagine if they were easy to get online, goth/emo teens would all be sleeping in them
The things he was saying when we were sorting his funeral, he didnt want it in the papers, said his family hadnt been to see him so they could go.....................
I said its me that's going to have to face them, he thought that was hilarious!
He had such a dry sense of humour, i miss him so much.0 -

I feel like your dad did with that sort of thing. If you can't be bothered seeing someone alive then why turn up when they are dead. Apart from feeling guiltySorry for your loss aswell.
I buy everything online so why not! I'd be happy with a cardboard box with some of my favourite animals and objects painted on it0 -

Think it's a bit harsh to say 'can't be bothered', personally speaking my Gran towards the end did not have her marbles about her. I did not want to see her because I wanted to remember her how she used to be and not how she ended up.
I didn't feel guilty for turning up at her funeral, I loved her dearly and wanted to be there at her send off.
Not having a go, just readressing the balance of the post.
I guess everyone deals with a loss / impending loss differently.0 -

My family is a total case of can't be bothered. We make all the contact, they never make any back so just decided they can get to. Don't have time in my life for people like that. So I don't find it atall harsh to say 'can't be bothered' because in my case it's true. If they turned up at a funeral of one of my parents playing the grieving relative then I would have a few words to say. Life is so much easier on your own
Of course all this happened when I was alot younger with my grandparents etc but then I wasn't young enough to realise it all.
Anyway I'm sure my grandad would have loved to have got a coffin online with his favourite football team printed on it if he could0 -
I can't believe that I am spending a Friday night googling coffins :rotfl:
Great thread - it's inspiring us all to think about our own funerals, and being lighthearted at the same time! Thanks OP!
Personally I would rather my nearest and dearest spent my/their money on a good old knees up when the time comes, rather than on a fancy coffin or loads of flowers!
I want to be cremated anyway, so a fancy coffin etc will just be a waste of money - Not that I'm planning on going anytime soon mind! I'm only 31, and fit and healthy apart from a skew-wift brain and a pickled liver:DI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Awww - that sounds lovely! I hope I can pursuede (sp?) my family that that is the way I want to go when the time comes! They are more likely to all wear black, be teetotal, and be deadly serious so as not to disrespect the dead  I'd feel more disrespected if they did that - I'd rather they all told funny stories about me (and I've clocked up a fair few already!) had a drink on me/ for me, and generally had fun catching up with each other at my expense:D:beer:
