Torry, it's even worse with people who need hearing aids but won't wear them, no idea why that would be because they are far less visible than glasses!

I agree with you there. They are so discreet you wouldn't notice unless someone told you. I only recently discovered that a young friend I've known for many years wears a hearing aid.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It makes life so much easier to have more than one pair - I keep one set on the go in the house and another set permanently in my handbag so that I never get 'caught short' as it were when someone says "did you read this item in the local rag .."?

I got caught short once (my glasses broke) and was without glasses for 2 days as I was away. It was awful.:(

I've worn glasses since I was at least 18 months old.

The thought of contact lenses scare me. Not helped by a programme I once watched.

  • my eyes are fine for everything else, it's just really small labels I find myself moving the jar further way to read it.

Right, I am going to book an eye test next week as I doubt manufacturers will give in and make the writing bigger!

If you've only just recently realised you need glasses, you must have a fairly low presciption... which means you won't need your lenses thinned down and will be able to get cheapo glasses online:) So not as bad as you thought, price-wise! :)

I struggled to accept I needed glasses. I can get away with living in a blurred world when not required to interact with it in any way, but watching tv, reading road signs blah blah....glasses :( I think I had my first pair at twenty and i flat out refused to wear them! Its taken 5 years for me to admit defeat and I wear them a lot now. Would you consider contacts, if you have a thing about glasses?

I've worn glasses since I was 1. You do get used to it.

I am now 26 and sometimes even now find myself looking everywhere for them until someone reminds me that I have them on :o

    Hey you! Hows the baby?!

I did the same the other day, wandered around the house, mumbling away about 'darn children messing with my glasses' then found I was wearing them. I just added it to the ever growing list of indicators for early dementia.
