Bum! I think I finally need to accept I need glasses.

I have loads of pairs of glasses from Glasses Direct. My current favourite are a £29 pair, although I got them as my free one in their BOGOF deal. I don't see the point in spending loads on one pair when you can have several!

I've worn them since I was 13 and couldn't read the blackboard at school.

Glasses are one of the few things I spend serious money on. I've never bought a piece of designer clothing in my life, but I will happily fork out for expensive frames that really suit me, rather than go cheap'n'cheerful. I wear them such a lot of the time, and they're right there on my face! So they make more of a difference to the way I look than any item of clothing ever could. (The other thing I splurge on is haircuts, with the same reasoning.)

If you only need them for reading every now and again I suppose it doesn't matter so much, but I say light, non-reflective lenses in classy frames is money well spent.

I've been wearing glasses for about a month now after being unable to see long distance for ages.

Having an apparently small face, I needed small glasses and found a nice pair in Specsavers - frames cost £99 but I'd saved up for them and I got the eye test and anti-reflection coating for free.

Now I wear them for watching tv, waiting for the bus or if I'm in an unfamiliar area, (can't read road signs!),meetings at work where they have powerpoint etc. It's made such a difference and I can see again!!

It did take me a while to get used to them, it's weird having something on your face and I kept bumping into people for some reason.

I find mine get dirty really easily and cleaning them with the cloth just smears it about so I bought a little spray from specsavers (£1.50, not very MSE I know!) and keep it with me. I'm enjoying seeing things in focus now and not having to squint.

Hmmmm I should probably wear glasses a lot of the time, I have my eyes checked regularly and have had them prescribed for reading etc but I found they made me feel sick (I didnt realise you could take them back and question the strength) and so I buy the cheap Primark ones and they do me fine. I have numerous pairs of them dotted around the house, car and work!

I love my glasses:D I wear mine all the time, but they're Chanel so i don't mind:)

God it drives me mad when people won't wear their reading glasses and they fanny about holding things further and further away. My MIL is the worst offender - I've given up showing her stuff in the paper or photos of the kids when she comes round, because she can't bloody see them. I've been out for meals with my parents and their friends and they've had one pair of glasses between about a dozen of them and they've got to pass the glasses around so that everyone can look at the menu!! Worse still, DH seems to be having problems with his eyesight now (he's getting on ) but will he own up to it? Will he hell? Arrggghhhh.

I have got to the same stage as you. I'm starting to question the smaller printing on labels on food jars and packets, poor lighting and the new low energy light bulbs.

Are you sure it's our eyes? I'm still thinking there is a conspiracy to make me believe my eyesight is failing. :rotfl:

When I was about 14 ( 20 years ago eek) I was given these glasses. One eye was fine, so very thin mild lens. The other eye was crap basically and the lens was like the bottom of a jam jar, I used to get splitting headaches with them and no sense of balance. I stopped wearing them- they are long disposed of- , Im scared now I need to start wearing them sadly,like hats, they just dont suit me

Funnily enough,I have had to start reading labelling recently, and the lettering definately has got smallr- especially when there are 4 or more versions of ingedients in various languages. I agree low energy ligyhtbulbs dont help!!!

this is how Im coming to the conclusion I need all the help I can get!
