I greatly prefer dealing with sellers now that offer an alternative to Royal Mail for delivery. Even the much-lambasted HDNL are vastly superior to Royal Mail's current standards of delivery. I kid you not but once RM attempted to deliver a package to me at 7:45am on a Saturday - perhaps some people are up and pottering about at that time, but I'm not - I got to the door as quick as I possibly could and there was no van in sight and just the card through the door. I find this especially remarkable as to turn a van around in my street would take some doing. I'm half tempted to believe he'd parked round the corner and rung the bell just to alert me to the card that had been popped through the door.

Getting a redelivery as well... bloody hell...

Then there's the fact that I used to subscribe to LoveFilm, until a rather large number of discs started to get "delayed" or "lost" when I was trying to post them back.

So yes, Royal Mail, I hate dealing with them. The local postie, to be fair, is a nice guy but the organisation as a whole is such a nuisance to work with that I would always prefer to pay £5 for delivery from somebody else because RM often cost me that much anyway in faffing about.

I'd be less inclined to moan if the individual allegedly attempting to deliver my package was still at the door in the minute it took me to get there.

I should point out really that since having a CCTV camera installed above the front door I've noticed a fair reduction in this type of behaviour. I can only imagine that the post-the-card-and-run antics wouldn't stand up well if such a video were presented as evidence when a complaint was made.

My posties great. He knows that I enter lots of competitions...and he always waits for ages for me...or leaves it with neighbour...(he always wants to know what I've won)!:D
