Hi Rosemary,
I googled 'Care packages for soldiers' and picked a UK based one. They have links to local schemes, and let you know how to do things. Weight of packages, contents etc. You have to pay the UK postage if you send something, but the BFPO takes care of the rest.
Whatever you feel about a war, it's the people serving who need support - I know I couldn't do it, and I am grateful to those that do. Sorry to go off-thread for a bit. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
LB moment - March 2006. DFD - 1 June 2012!!! DEBT FREE!
May grocery challenge £45.61/£1200 -
UU: Impulse Pure Love shower gel... WIBA? I might.....but only if it's on offer** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***

Hi, have been lurking in the background for a while and just want to say how nice and supportive you all are in comparison to some other threads where people seem a bit stroppy (or is it just me being a bit over sensitive). If a new thread starts in March I may join in with you then. Been far to naughty this month and don't want to own up to it yet:eek:The devil makes works for idle hands0

Feels good to have finished a couple off though. :TDebt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

4 UU's to report this weekend!
TBS Pink Grapefruit body lotion puree - WIBA? well it smells really nice but I think that it's not really moisturising enough for me! Going to try the vanilla body lotion next when I've used up the other 2 I have!
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, Toner and Light Moisturiser - WIBA? I like the scents and the ideas behind the products but my experience last time I used them has been confirmed: they break me out! I went into town today and walked straight past Superdrug
, Boots was closed
and ignored the hair stuff (with difficulty) in Asda.
My mum does care packages for the soldiers through her British Legion branch so i'm going to sort some things out to send their way.
OH did his best to tempt me today with some shower gels for £1 but i asked him the question "do we need them" he smiled and said no so that was the end of that.0 -

we keep our soaps/bath bombs/bubble bars on a two-tier cake stand in the bathroom and I have to admit it does look very pretty, xx
What a fabulous idea, sounds really pretty!0 -
Good morning, the ones im usung at the moment are skin so soft, soft and renewed body cleanser and body lotion. Im not sure how much I paid for them, but it would have been a special offer, as I always look for avon offers. The body cleanser smells divine, a light floral kind of smell, perfect for everyday use. I use it with a puff, and a little goes a very long way, very mse! leaves my skin feeling fresh, no tightness I get with certain products.[/FONT]
The body lotion smell is not quite as strong as the cleanser, nice and light, and tends to sit on the skin for a moment until you rub it in properly, and sinks in lovely. skin feels nice and soft after use, knees included!
hope that helps
That's fab Tommyk - thanks! I have to say, I think the SSS range is fantastic - amazing value and really effective. I've already decided that I'm going to try some more of the products as and when I need to buy.bargainbetty wrote: »Hi Rose,
I've tried the Deep comfort body butter, and it is quite lovely, but not significantly better than standard cocoa butter, if I'm honest. I wouldn't be likely to spend that much on it again! The one I will buy again is the Sanctuary body butter - Mande Lular or the regular one. Lovely smell and wonderfully silky on the skin!
Sarah*a, I looked it up online, and there are lots of schemes that ask you to send a care package to a serving soldier. You can either send something to a scheme, or obtain the name of a soldier and send it direct. They have a list of what you can and can't include, and I was shocked to realise that the female personnel often rely on care packages including tampons and towels, as they don't always have the supplies available! Outrageous! I'm amending the contents of the box a bit to make it appropriate for a female officer!
Lovely idea indeed - you also put in a note to the soldier, so you can say thanks for what they do for us. If you include your address, they often write back.
Betty, I knew a chap who was out in Afghanistan a while ago - a group of us got together to send packages out - I remember him saying that it was some of the simplest stuff that they were most pleased to get - stuff like imperial leather soap, talc, and toothpaste. As you say, "lady goods" also go down really well too with the females, and also reading material generally, especially magazines, on just about any subject!
Another fan here of the Sanctuary Spa butters too - I've just finished the Kyphi one and that is gorgeous!thevicster wrote: »Hi vivh! Join now! You don't have to own up to things you've bought before you joined the thread! :rotfl:
