Has anyone heard of the Chalet School books by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer?

I googled them to see if I recognised them (was a Malory Towers and St Clare's girl too). I think I may have read one or two. Have you become 'A Friend Of The Chalet School'? You might get more that way (not that I'm trying to encourage your substitute addiction - OH and I have approx 5000 books between us and all but the last half-dozen purchased have been read :p)(except for the 6 Patrick O'Brian Books I got him today for a bargain £1.50 - that's Valentines sorted :rotfl:)

There is a BS Outlet at the designer outlet in York. Not a BS fan so I don't know if the stuff they do is good or bad.

oooh - am heading that way in April to visit my Mum. A trip maybe needed :D

One IN today (well - yesterday but forgot to mention it!) a much needed Roll-On Deo. Completely forgot to get one yesterday when out and then remembered when heading home. Only had £1 on me so just grabbed the nearest I could afford in Home Bargains. Was Arrid XXDry Showerfresh. Got it home and turns out it's the exact same one I've been using - so I'm guessing I did the same last time I ran out too :rotfl::rotfl:

I got it along with a Clinque moisturiser and a P&P eye cream for £5 in a charity shop (bargain of the year!). :j

Had an NPI today - was charity shop mooching and there was an Elle McP Gift set - body butter, foot butter, something else, something else and a candle :p £2.99. Walked away head held high :D It's already been there a week that I know of so will keep my eye on it :rotfl: Nowhere near as bargainous as Tara's find tho :p

Started using my BS Cranberry Joy Body Butter and asked OH if he liked it (yes ;)) so I asked him if it smelt 'christmassy' and he said "what? Like turkey?" Thankfully I apparently do not smell christmassy :rotfl::rotfl:

Have a great Thursday all

sarah*a, I have the same problem with a fcuk set in the local red cross shop! I keep walking past the window and it keeps winking at me but I keep ignoring its slutty attempts to seduce me. I will not give in! And it's £5.95, whick I think is pretty steep for a charity shop!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Some of the prices are shocking - there's a few gift sets dotted about that I have seen that I know they are charging more for than they originally cost in £land/Home Bargains etc  :rotfl:

Just seen this on one of the Freebies Boards: Free MUA Nail Polish Sets with 2 500ml Cokes in Superdrug 16 Feb - 16 March

Oooh no I didn't mean or say the Clinique - they are like ahhh on the skin. No I mean Clarins? They do a couple of versions - I use quite a moisturising one called the Comfort one - it was a thicker consistency but its really gentle.
Clinique yuck yuck yuck, too harsh for me

Sorry, it must have been a little early for me. Think I've decided to stick with the LE Instant Boost Skin Tonic. Don't really want to pay any more than I do for this for toner - still not sure it does anything as there's nothing further on the pad after I've cleansed. Makes my skin feel fresher, that's all. The Clinique one I had though I got as GWP which doesn't sound good now that someone else has said that you should have the 3 step system "prescribed" for you.

If I'm at home, I use a Kabuki brush, or a big bronzer brush with my pressed powder, just seems to give a better finish. If I'm out and about, then the pad/sponge that came with it is fine.

I use a kabuki brush all the time with my Balance N Brighten. The one I have I got from Boots with a mineral blusher but they only sell it in this kit not individually which is a bit naff.
    evening all,

roshy - go for it!! It could be a life-changing opportunity and you already have family & friends there to help & support you, xx

have a uu to report: elemis procollagen marine cream 30ml, part of a TSV bought around Christmas, hmmn this is lovely, light and with a lovely delicate fragrance, thankfully I have a 15ml tube in the stash that I got free with a magazine forever ago, will be digging it out - fingers crossed it's still ok after all this time

There's another TSV coming up on 3 March which includes another 30ml pot of PCMC. I'm wavering as to whether I'll buy this cos it's got the night cream and new eye cream in it but I already have a year's supply of PCMC. Will decide on the day. Have decided though that if I'm good this month and don't buy anything then this could be a treat to me in March.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Is this good stuff then? Not that I need any new face wash... :o

Well I like to use wash-off foamy gelly face washes because I have oily skin and it's the only way I feel properly clean. However, I often find they make my skin feel tight or dry and flaky. The BS Passionfruit cleansing gel doesn't.

It doesn't make any fancy claims like pore shrinking or spot fighting or blackhead clearing, it just CLEANS. But it does all of those things anyway because just the act of cleaning your face goes a long way towards achieving clear skin.

    And it smells gorgeous.
And it's £3.99 and often on BOGOF :j
  • One more UU - A Molton Brown skin balancing toner that has been hanging around partly used for ages. It came as part of a QVC purchase 2 or 3 years ago I think. WIBA - don't know how much it cost and although it smells nice and feels very fresh on the skin I'm not sure it did much for my pores. I think I will stick with Alpha H which is my cleanser of choice and see if they do a toner. Finding it hard to find my HG products.

Ahhhhhh....Mallory Towers & St Claires......I was such a bookworm as a kid and have all of these - I used to BEG my Mum to send me away to boarding school. :D
  • Morning all! Hope you are all well today, it's very milkd here and feels a few months later in the year than it is - I hope we have a glorious early summer this year :T

    two UU's today
Capasal shampoo - i HATED this so much it smells like creosaut (sp?). d to get one and they said no there's not enough space in the store. :(

It must just be me that loves that smell :o

Thanks again for all the well wishes for Oz, it really means a lot - now that I've made my mind up I need to sort out all the little bits and pieces to enable it to go, I think I'll apply for a years working visa and a one way ticket, that way I can decide when I come home, and whether I love it or hate it! :)

I had a UU last night, I went shopping to Costco and managed to avoid all temptations, toiletries, sweeties, even the muffins :T :rotfl: and when I got home, I must have been in a daze, I UU my final Lush bathbomb (Satsuma santa??) but wasn't paying attention and went back downstairs. When I came up and walked into the bathroom it took my breath for a second because I forgot that it turns the water blood red :rotfl: i thought it was one of the biblical plagues :rotfl:

Sooooo that is no more Lush stuff in my stash :T and although I do like some of the bathbombs/fizzers etc, in the future I will only buy 1 at a time!! and will buy them on the day/week (can only go to Lush on Saturdays) that I want to use them.

I found a half used (well there is one/two body applications left) of Japanese Cherry Blossom BB in a bag  I thought I had used this up! It has replaced the moringa body lotion spray I hae on the go so I can UU quickly.

I think I will need to throw out my no 7 foundation - i mentioned before that it had started to appear darker than my previous one of the same shade  but now it is really orange! I don't know whether it had separated within the bottle and due to the design/nature I just couldn't tell, but I think I will have to go onto a NYC one now.

Forgive me that I can't remember the poster - but I find the NYC foundations brilliant for the price (bout £3.99 in Superdrug but after I had discovered them I got mine online on a cheap make up store for just over £1 :T ) and I think they compare to the Clinique ones I used to wear.

I'm off now to put some more items on eBay, this little and often business seems to be the trick I need!

Have a good day ladies xx

I was more in to the pony stories. My absolute favourite series by a very long way, was the Punchbowl Farm series of books by the wonderful Monica Edwards.
Just tried out the Boots Garden Collection Indulgence Set lavender bath gel as shower gel and the lavender body cream. Both the handwash/bath gel and the body cream/hand cream have absolutely identical chemical formulations though the ratio of water might differ (though it doesn't look like it). Moreover lavendula angustifolia (real lavender) doesn't feature in the list of ingredients. TG it was a raffle prize, I'd be feeling a bit ripped off if I'd paid a tenner. Products are nice enough to use, though, so that's a plus.
