Would be interesting to know, I have no idea, but I can't believe the system could work like that, I think there simply must be more to it then some on here would have us believe.0 -
Does that really happen, the DWP gets 1 phone call and the person who is accused has all their benefits cut off? Is it that simple, or is there more to it?
I don't believe it either. Neither do I believe what a previous poster said when he asserted that the benefit payments are not backdated when re-instated after the investigation.
Another thing I find totally incomprehensible is that when people are found to have commited benefit fraud they are still allowed to carry on claiming. There should be a minimum 3 month sanction on any benefit claiming if someone is found to have claimed fraudulently. This i believe would be a huge deterrent. At present money is paid back at a ludicrous rate, sometimes over decades, whilst the person is free to carry on claiming. If you steal from the taxpayer you shouldn't be given the opportunity to do it again.0 -

I do remember when we first moved to Spain, my huband's Incapacity Benefit was not paid for a couple of months. He did not lose entitlement to it, it was purely a matter of transferring it to the overseas department. So I suppose Benefits might stop when there is a query on them.
We had other income though, I find it difficult to believe that they would leave someone with nothing.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I don't need to have all the facts before I shop someone in.
I just need a suspicion.
Its not my responsibilty to gather the facts.
Its not my responsibilty to ensure a claimant is genuine.
Its not my responsibilty to ensure a claiment is not abusing the system.
Its the responsbilty of the DWP.
Someone who has claimed benefits has ASKED for state intervention.
They have said :
I cant pay my rent/mortgage or have no/little income or have an illness that prohibits me working.
Can the state please intervene and pay this.
Benefit claiments have asked for state intervention.
They cannot complain when they start asking questions.

That is yours and so many's problems, they do NOT get the facts.
You say it is not your job to get the facts but you see it as your job to stick your nose in other people's business WITHOUT having all the facts? clearly.
The fact is when people are reported it caused huge amounts of stress and upset for the one's who are doing nothing wrong, but when you don't have ALL the facts and just hearsay you think it's ok to cause such upset??
If you know 100 per cent what someone is doing then ok but still I'd not get involved, I do not work for the DWP it's not my job to do their dirty work and their the one's who give the claims out so it's THEIR job to find out who shouldn't get it.
But again there are just too many people thinking their doing a good deed when in fact they just can't help sticking their nose into other people's life's. And as you clearly said 'I do not need the facts' well yes you should have at least that if your going to report someone. :mad:The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -

I will correct your misapprehension about sticking our noses into other people's business. If I suspect that someone is claiming public money that they are not entitled to then it becomes my business. It should be the business of all of us. The more that is paid to fraudulent claimants then less remains for genuine people. If all claimants were told they were going to have a 10% reduction in their payments to balance the books because of fraudulent claims i bet they would be looking for fraud to be stamped out.
We should all be concerned about this fraud. TBH when someone shouts really loudly about nosey parkers etc it just makes me wonder what they themselves have to hide or worry about.0 -

Yes and you know this for a fact?? seen their post? read their doctors files? yeah of course you do :rotfl:The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0
